I clicked on it. Slide 3: It took me to a page where it told me to enter my phone number. I entered my mom’s. Then the screen told me to enter the code that was text messaged to my mom’s phone. I told my brother to get her phone. Fortunately, Dad asked what we were up to. My brother told him and my dad immediately went to me. He told me that this was a scam and that all they wanted to do was get money off of you. He said that he heard on the radio that this guy did the same thing and ended up having a 30,000 dollar bill texted to him. Slide 4: I quickly x-ed out, but during the next couple months the company kept sending text messages to my mom. We ignored them, and after a while they stopped. I learned you should never, ever click on anything that pops up. I hope you did too! Internet Safety : Internet Safety Internet Safety is very important when your are online, because it is so easy for someone to track you down. Never give out personal info such as name, address, and phone number.! If you have a MySpace or Facebook account, be sure your parents know, so they can make sure you stay safe. Last but not least, protect your passwords. The whole world doesn’t need to know your password. How Easy is it to Track Someone down? : How Easy is it to Track Someone down? It is very easy for somebody to track you down. For instance, just by giving somebody your phone #, they could type it in a Google search engine and get a list of results. The search engine could give away your full name, your address, and where you go to school. That is why it is very important not to put personal info online! Netiquette Do’s and Don'ts : Netiquette Do’s and Don'ts 1. If you wouldn’t do it in person don’t say it online because it could hurt someone’s feelings. 2. Don’t put something on the internet if you don’t want certain people to see it. 3. Don’t write in all capital letters because someone might think you are yelling. 4. Don’t get involved in flame wars. 5. Anyone can see what you have posted Tips and Advice : Tips and Advice Don’t open e-mails or downloads from someone you don’t know. It could have a virus and can crash your computer. Don’t post personal information like your age, address, school, or phone number and e-mail address.
