The Importance of Internet Safety By: Surfer Steve, Chatty Chelsea, Spammer Sam and Netiquette Nelly Miss Futrell’s 5th Graders Mrs. Johns’ Computer Class Publishing Co. ©November 2009 All Rights Reserved

Surfing :

Surfing Surfing means you look at websites on the internet. Don’t give out personal information. Don’t give out your school name, your first and last name, your phone number, and where you live. If you see an advertisement that makes you uncomfortable you exit out and tell a grown up.

Chatting :

Chatting Chatting means sending message to someone on the internet. If you are talking to someone online, exit out of anything that is inappropriate. No giving out personal information. If something bad happens on the internet, exit out and tell an adult.

Spam :

Spam Spam is junk mail people send to you. Spam can give a virus to your computer. You should exit out and tell a grown up if you get spam. Delete, exit, and tell a grown up.

Netiquette :

Netiquette Netiquette means being polite on the internet. When you use capital letters you are shouting on the internet. You can exit out if someone is yelling at you. An emoticon is a picture that shows your emotions. Like the pictures on this page. When in a chat room no yelling or screaming on the internet.
