Demonstrate the strategy Step1) choose an object that you want to describe. - Eg . my family Step2) write some features(B) of the object(A) that you want to describe (A=B) - Eg . My Dad is powerful and strong but not always effective in a crisis. My mom always pokes and pinches me. David is sometimes ignored. Muffin , little sheep dog is stained and dirty. I hold us altogether with my love.2. Demonstrate the strategy: 2. Demonstrate the strategy Step3) Think about other objects(C) that can describe the features(B) that you wrote. (B=C) - Eg . Dad: Strong and powerful=super-size band aid, Mom: Pokes and pinches me =middle-size tweezers, David: Sometimes ignored=aspirin on the third shelf Muffin: stained and dirty=a round cotton ball I:hold us all together with my love = wood and glue Step4) Link the two objects and write the sentences. (A=C --> A is C) - Eg . Dad is a super-size band aid, Mom is middle-size tweezers, David is aspirin on the third shelf, Muffin is a round cotton ball, I am the wood and glue.2. Demonstrate the strategy: 2. Demonstrate the strategy Step5) write the sentence and add some details to explain the reason why you think the two objects are similar. Now, it’s like a poem -> Metaphor for a Family My family lives inside a medicine chest: Dad is the super-size band aid , strong and powerful but not always effective in a crisis. Mom is the middle-size tweezers , which pokes and pinches. David is the single small aspirin on the third shelf , sometimes ignored. Muffin, the sheep dog, is a round cotton ball , stained and dirty, that pops off the shelf and bounces in my way as I open the door. And I am the wood and glue which hold us all together with my love. -By: Belinda - Read more on TeacherVision : http://www.teachervision.fen.com/poetry/literary-techniques/5453.html#ixzz1KCytGySS3.
