Bond Films: Tracing the History:

Bond Films: Tracing the History Since Dr.NO(1962), the first Bond Film, it has been 50 years that Eon productions has been releasing Bond films back to back. The James Bond Series is an Action-Thriller Spy Series based on the fictional character of British Spy James Bond created by Ian Fleming.

Ian Fleming:

Ian Fleming Ian Lancaster Fleming  (28 May 1908 – 12 August 1964) was an English author, journalist and naval intelligence officer, best known for his James Bond series of spy novels. While working in British naval intelligence during the Second World War, Fleming was involved in the planning stages of Operation Mincemeat and Operation Golden Eye. He was also involved in the planning and oversight of two intelligence units, 30 Assault Unit and T-Force. His wartime service and his career as a journalist provided much of the background, detail and depth of the James Bond novels. Fleming wrote his first Bond novel,  Casino Royale , in 1952.

‘M’:

‘M’ M  is a fictional character in Ian Fleming's James Bond series; the character is the Head of Secret Intelligence Service—also known as MI6. M has appeared in the novels by Fleming and seven continuation authors, as well as appearing in twenty-four films.

‘Q’:

‘Q’ Q  is a fictional character in the James Bond films. Q (standing for Quartermaster), like M, is a job title rather than a name. He is the head of Q Branch (or later Q Division), the fictional research and development division of the British Secret Service. Q has appeared in 20 of 23 Eon Bond films; all except  Live and Let Die ,  Casino Royale and  Quantum of Solace . The character was also featured in the non-Eon Bond films Casino Royale  (1967) and  Never Say Never Again .

Bond’s Guns:

Bond’s Guns For the first five novels, Fleming armed Bond with a Beretta 418 until he received a letter from a thirty-one-year-old Bond enthusiast and gun expert, Geoffrey Boothroyd, criticising Fleming's choice of firearm for Bond and suggested that Bond should swap his Beretta for a Walther PPK 7.65mm. Other handguns used by Bond in the Fleming books included the Colt Detective Special and a long-barrelled Colt .45 Army Special. Walther PPK

Bond’s Vehicles:

Bond’s Vehicles The Bond of the films has driven a number of cars, including the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, during the 1980s), the V12 Vanquish and DBS during the 2000s, as well as the Lotus Esprit; the BMW Z3, BMW 750iL and the BMW Z8. He has, however, also needed to drive a number of other vehicles, ranging from a Citroën 2CV to a Routemaster Bus, amongst others. Bond's most famous car is the silver grey Aston Martin DB5, first seen in  Goldfinger ; it later featured in  Thunderball ,  GoldenEye , Tomorrow Never Dies ,  Casino Royale  and  Skyfall . Aston Martin DB5

Bond’s Gadgets:

Bond’s Gadgets For the film adaptations of Bond, the pre-mission briefing by Q Branch became one of the motifs that ran through the series. Dr. No  provided no spy-related gadgets, but a Geiger counter was used; industrial designer Andy Davey observed that the first ever onscreen spy-gadget was the attaché case shown in  From Russia with Love , which he described as "a classic 007 product". The gadgets assumed a higher profile in the 1964 film  Goldfinger . The Little Nellie Autogyro

Bond Girl:

Bond Girl A  Bond girl  is a character or actress portraying a love interest of James Bond. They occasionally have names that are double entendres or puns, such as Pussy Galore, Plenty O'Toole, Xenia Onatopp, or Holly Goodhead. There is no set rule on who a Bond girl will be or what role she will play. She may be ally or enemy, pivotal to the mission or simply eye candy. Despite this broad scope there are female characters such as Judi Dench's M and Miss Moneypenny, who are not Bond girls. Berenice Marlohe as Severine Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore

Latest in the series - SKYFALL:
