Marina Radić 8.a Mission to Mercury

Slide 2:

This is the world of fire and ice. This is the world of mystery.

Slide 3:

In this presentation I am going to tell you something about Mercury. In most planets in our Solar Sistem it is turned to be something special. It looks like a Moon at a glance and we also expect from it to be like a Moon, but as a “Messenger” discovered, we were completely wrong.

Slide 4:

Diameter of Mercury is about 4880 km. Because of proximity to the sun it is rarley in a favorable position for viewing.

Slide 5:

The Mercury is next to the Venus and the Earth. It is the first planet in our Solar Sistem. There is 450 degree Celzius at day.

Slide 6:

Half of planets weren’t discoved until Messenger. This year the scientists have colected more than 1200 pictures of Mercury. The astronomical physicists spaced in Berlin are one part of the huge investigators of Mercury.

Slide 7:

One of the astronomical physicist, Jorn Helberk said: -We can’t reconstruct the Earth anymore, here we have weather, water, air…Everything what was here at the beginning has been changed, but no on Mercury. We can see there a real material from which the planets were made.

Slide 8:

There are some humps and holes on Mercury which scientist hope will reveal the evolution and formation of planets. Over the next few years Jorn and his team hoped to complete the map of the entire survives of Mercury. The “Messenger” already helped them in the first maps and gave them a previously unknown regions.

Slide 10:

They have taken every picture of Mercury. Picture by picture, they needed a lot of time and a lot of patience to assort appropriate pictures that match.

Slide 11:

Creatures like these are made of comets and asteroids in packs.

Slide 12:

How much of it was it there and where did it fly? Scientist hope to answer these questions and find out nature of minerals.

Slide 13:

Berlin scientists are already working on project “2019” on mission to Mercury with Japanese and Europeans.

Slide 14:

The end!!

Grammar:

Grammar Present simple: It looks like a Moon… It doesn’t look like a Moon… Does it look like a Moon…? Past tense: … we were in a completely mistake. … we weren’t in a completely mistake. … Were we in a completely mistake?

Slide 16:

Adverbs of frequency: It is rarley in a favorable position for viewing. It isn’t rarley in a favorable position for viewing. Is it rarley in a favorable position for viewing? Present continous: Berlin scientist are already working … Berlin scientist aren’t already working… Are Berlin scientist already working ?

New words::

New words: At a glance-na prvi pogled Favorable-povoljni Proximity-blizina Investigator-istražitelji Reconstruct-rekonstruirati Humps-izbočina Hole-rupa Assort-podudarati se (poklapati se) Appropriate-odgovarajuće

Questions::

Questions: How does the Mercury look like? How much is the diameter of Mercury? How much degree Celzius are on the Mercury? How many pictures have scientists colected this year on Mercury? Why the archeologists can’t reconstruct the Earth anymore? Who the Berlin scientist work on a new project with?
