Slide4: How do you begin to make a digital story? - follow a sequence of 7 steps
- developed based on 2-year project at the University of Virginia
Slide5: 1. Write a Script - less than 1 double-spaced page
- include only essential elements
Slide6: 2. Plan a Storyboard - sketches of still images
- caption beneath each sketch
- about 12 images
Slide7: - scripts & storyboards should be “tickets in the door” to use computers
- maximizes students’ amount of time creating digital stories if planning is completed prior to using the computers
Importance of Planning
Slide8: 3. Revise the Script - elicit feedback from peers
- ensure images communicate part of the story
Slide9: 4. Sequence Images - enter images into a digital video editor such as iMovie or Movie Maker
Slide10: 5. Add the Narrative Track - students narrate and save 1 sentence at a time

- about 2 minutes in length
