Planned Activities: 

Planned Activities 1.Serological survey will be undertaken in 287 randomly selected villages in various production systems In each village 16 blood samples from 6-18 months old large ruminants. Similar sampling protocol will be opted for small ruminants 2. Detection of FMD antigen or viral genome FMD suspected out breaks will be attended, viruses isolation & typing along with sharing samples with research groups inland & International labs Selected isolates to be sequenced and vaccine matching studies to be conducted 3. Enhance capabilities of field staff for FMD diagnosis, sampling, and outbreak response through workshops, meetings, on-field trainings

Anticipated Outcomes Make progress on PCP (1 to 2) Surveillance, diagnosis and rapid response SOPs will be established and hormonized with local/regional/international FMD labs/institutes. Diagnostic capability of Central lab will be improved through participation in proficiency testing and accreditation. Development of Software for networking of all FMD labs. Selection of better vaccine will become possible
