WANT TO OWN SOMETHING? How About Landing Crafts

Slide2:

Landing crafts are small vessels that were developed during the wars to ferry soldiers or transport supplies. They are similar to boats is construction except for the exclusive feature that they have a flat bottom because the offshore supply vessel has to run up to a suitable length on the beach. They were mainly developed as aids to transport and ferry military personnel for amphibious assaults. These vessels were generally built of steel but there are a few models that have also been built with Aluminum. Aluminum landing crafts are lighter and are more expensive than the Steel LCT’s. They gained widespread popularity during the World War II. By the end of the World War II, a number of designs for different applications were indigenously developed by the European nations. Similar to boats, the landing crafts have the engine at the extreme rear of the vessel. Landing crafts are scarcely used for long distance traveling as it becomes difficult to control these crafts on rough seas.

Landing crafts, which used to be seagoing vessels that were mainly used for military uses like ferrying soldiers or transporting supplies, are now used for diverse applications ranging from recreational activities to military activities. Gradually these landing crafts have been modified and are now available in different designs based on the intended application. These recently modified vessels are most popular in the United States and Australia. The landing crafts that we find these days are much smaller and differently constructed than the previously discussed military Land crafts and tug boats. They resemble house boats but are much smaller in size. You can actually purchase one of these at a shipbuilding yard or you can get them online from one of the many vendors. These landing crafts are still in use for transporting or moving equipment. You can also get a landing craft custom built and use it for commercial purposes. LANDING CRAFTS AND TUG BOATS TODAY
