Use tizmos to have students only look at selected websites instead of having them type multiple sites in the address bar. Right now they are working on a tizmos site just for teachers which will allow teachers to have different pages for different subjects. Still in beta and has not been launched yet. Some notes about these tools: : 

If more than one portion is wanted from the video (i.e. remove the whole middle), users will have to create two chopped segments which can be posted separately. If YouTube is blocked in your district, Tubechop and splicd videos will not show, either, since they are "pulled" from YouTube. Check school access before you plan to use TubeChop! (When tested in a district that blocks You Tube, the actual Tube Chop video did not play.) Be sure to check District policy about use of You Tube videos. Some notes about these tools:

So, what if youtube is blocked by your school? : 

If youtube is blocked at your school or if you want to save a youtube video to your computer’s hard drive, you may use an online tool called http://keepvid.com Using keepvid, you can download the youtube video to your computer. This is useful if you need a video for a presentation and don’t have good Internet access or if youtube is blocked at your school. You can download the video, then save it to a location where your students can view it or show it to your students from your laptop if you have an lcd projector. So, what if youtube is blocked by your school?

Authorstream.com is an online sharing interface that lets you convert your powerpoint presentations into web based videos. Slideshare.net is similar to authorstream, but you can upload word documents, pdfs, videos,as well as powerpoints. All uploaded content is then converted into an online video. Students can then follow along with you as you read through the video or students can go through the videos at their own pace to answer questions. What is it? Vozme is an online web tool that lets you cut and paste text into a text box and then it converts the text to an audio .mp3 that is downloadable. Ways you could use this tool: Have students cut and paste their class notes to this page, then download the mp3 file. They can play these on their mp3 players to study. This is a great proof reading tool. Students can cut and paste their text and have it read back to them. Those who have trouble retaining information from printed words can listen to their assigned readings using this tool. Teachers can post their lectures online as mp3 files for their students to download.

What is it? It’s a website that makes it easy to use search engines more efficiently. It allows you to do a web search using puzzle pieces for the search terms! Every time you make changes to your search, the number of results changes. You can add search terms to help you get rid of websites you don't really need. A few notes about boolify Recently they changed their interface and the number of websites do not come up when you do a search. Since it is in beta, sometimes it may act up. Pressing the refresh button often helps solve this. You can use it as a starting off point for teaching how to narrow down results.
