The Problem:

The Problem Gradual decrease in public’s awareness of diabetes as a critical health condition. Budgeting of treatment of diabetes The hospital solely relies on the government for funding The budget allocated to the hospital has been stagnant for the last five years The cost of drugs for treatment of diabetes has increased by over ten percent between 2012 and 2013. A gradual increase in the number of people diagnosed with diabetes each year

Proposed solutions:

Proposed solutions Seek alternative sources of funding e.g. financial aid from the world Health organization Organize an annual marathon in conjunction with the American Diabetes Association Increase public awareness of the disease. The hospital in conjunction with other stakeholders can hold campaigns that focus on making the community aware of what causes diabetes, the financial implications it has on one’s finances and the way to avoid becoming a victim of the disease.

Financial Management for Nurses:

Financial Management for Nurses The financial structure of a hospital determines its budget as well as how much it spends. For instance, Non-profit hospitals are exempted from paying certain taxes While non-profit hospitals rely on donations, private institutions rely on the revenue the institution makes from treating patients as well as from income generating activities such as organizing a marathon. The result is that budgets for different departments are never sufficient to adequately cater for all their needs.
