Slide 1:

BROKEN BEYOND REPAIR Heritage Place Church of Christ Dr. J. Wayne Kilpatrick July 25, 2010

Slide 2:

Prov 29:1 “A man who remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed — without remedy.” NIV “…that he will be suddenly destroyed and broken beyond repair.”

Slide 3:

There's a time, I know not when. There is a place, I know not where, Which marks the destiny of men, to heaven or despair. There is a line by us not seen that crosses every path. ‘Tis the hidden boundary between God's mercy and God's wrath.

Slide 4:

“He that being often reproved…” GOD’S MERCIFUL CONVICTION

Slide 5:

Rev 3:20 NKJV "BEHOLD, I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK. IF ANYONE HEARS MY VOICE AND OPENS THE DOOR, I WILL COME IN TO HIM AND DINE WITH HIM, AND HE WITH ME.”

Slide 6:

How does God reprove us? God speaks through the HOLY SPIRIT and through His HOLY WORD. John 16:8 “WHEN HE, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH IS COME, HE WILL REPROVE THE WORLD OF SIN, OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND JUDGMENT TO COME.”

Slide 7:

He also God speaks to us at times through SICKNESS. He also speaks to us through SORROW. He often speaks through His SERVANTS.

Slide 8:

Heb 1:1 NKJV “GOD, WHO AT VARIOUS TIMES AND IN VARIOUS WAYS SPOKE IN TIME PAST TO THE FATHERS BY THE PROPHETS…”

Slide 9:

Is 61:1 NIV) “THE SPIRIT OF THE SOVEREIGN LORD IS ON ME, BECAUSE THE LORD HAS ANOINTED ME TO PREACH GOOD NEWS TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO BIND UP THE BROKENHEARTED, TO PROCLAIM FREEDOM FOR THE CAPTIVES AND RELEASE FROM DARKNESS FOR THE PRISONERS…”

Slide 10:

God speaks through His SINGERS. Sometimes God speaks to us through the CLEAN, PURE LIFE of a brother or sister, or maybe through someone with whom you work.

Slide 11:

STUBBORN REBELLION Pro 29:1 “He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck…”

Slide 12:

Sometimes people harden their necks by procrastination, which is a form of disobedience. Proverbs 27:1 “BOAST NOT YOURSELF OF TOMORROW, FOR YOU KNOW NOT WHAT A DAY MAY BRING FORTH.”

Slide 13:

ONE MORE NIGHT WITH THE FROGS.

Slide 14:

Ex 8:9-10 “Moses said to the king, "Please set the time when I should pray for you, your people, and your officers. Then the frogs will leave you and your houses and will remain only in the Nile." 10 The king answered, ‘Tomorrow.’" NCV

Slide 15:

THREE REASONS why not to postpone giving your heart to Jesus Christ: Number one, if you wait until tomorrow, you’ll lose today. Number two, if you don’t, something worse may come tomorrow

Slide 16:

Number three, tomorrow may not come. Another way people harden their necks is by pride.

Slide 17:

Romans 3:10, 23 “FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD. THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO NOT ONE.”

Slide 18:

People harden their hearts, not only through procrastination and pride, but through pleasures. 2 Tim 3:2‑4 NIV “PEOPLE WILL BE LOVERS OF THEMSELVES, LOVERS OF MONEY, BOASTFUL, PROUD,

Slide 19:

ABUSIVE, DISOBEDIENT TO THEIR PARENTS, UNGRATEFUL, UNHOLY, {4} TREACHEROUS, RASH, CONCEITED, LOVERS OF PLEASURE RATHER THAN LOVERS OF GOD...”

Slide 20:

Psalm 84:11 “THE LORD THY GOD IS A SUN AND A SHIELD. NO GOOD THING WILL HE WITHHOLD FROM THEM THAT WALK UPRIGHTLY.”

Slide 21:

Prov 29:1 “He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, will suddenly be destroyed…” NKJV SUDDEN DESTRUCTION

Slide 22:

2 Peter 3:9,10 “THE LORD IS NOT SLACK CONCERNING HIS PROMISE, AS SOME MEN COUNT SLACKNESS; BUT IS LONGSUFFERING TO US‑WARD, NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, BUT THAT ALL SHOULD COME TO REPENTANCE.

Slide 23:

10} BUT THE DAY OF THE LORD WILL COME AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT; IN THE WHICH THE HEAVENS SHALL PASS AWAY WITH A GREAT NOISE, AND THE ELEMENTS SHALL MELT WITH FERVENT HEAT, THE EARTH ALSO AND THE WORKS THAT ARE THEREIN SHALL BE BURNED UP.”

Slide 24:

There are three ways that he may be destroyed: One, His mind may suddenly be destroyed by a strong delusion.

Slide 25:

2 Th 2:11‑12 NIV “FOR THIS REASON GOD SENDS THEM A POWERFUL DELUSION SO THAT THEY WILL BELIEVE THE LIE {12} AND SO THAT ALL WILL BE CONDEMNED WHO HAVE NOT BELIEVED THE TRUTH BUT HAVE DELIGHTED IN WICKEDNESS.”

Slide 26:

Two, often there's the destruction of the spirit through spiritual desertion. Eph 4:30 NIV “AND DO NOT GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD, WITH WHOM YOU WERE SEALED FOR THE DAY OF REDEMPTION.”

Slide 27:

Genesis 6:3 “AND THE LORD SAID, MY SPIRIT SHALL NOT STRIVE WITH MAN FOREVER, OR IT SHALL NOT ALWAYS WITH A MAN.” Romans 1:24 “THEREFORE GOD ALSO GAVE THEM UP.” Romans 1:26 “FOR THIS REASON, GOD GAVE THEM UP TO VILE PASSIONS.”

Slide 28:

Romans 1:28. “AND EVEN AS THEY DID NOT LIKE TO RETAIN GOD IN THEIR KNOWLEDGE, GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO A REPROBATE MIND.”

Slide 29:

Hosea 4:17 NIV “EPHRAIM IS JOINED TO IDOLS; LEAVE HIM ALONE!” Heb 6:4-6 “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy

Slide 30:

Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.” NKJV

Slide 31:

And three, there may be the destruction of the body through sudden death. Genesis 15:16 “THE INIQUITY OF THE AMORITES IS NOT YET FULL.”

Slide 32:

Deuteronomy 7:17 “THOU SHALT UTTERLY DESTROY THEM.” SETTLED DESTINY

Slide 33:

Prov 29:1 “He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.” NKJV

Slide 34:

“SEND LAZARUS THAT HE MAY DIP THE TIP OF HIS FINGER IN WATER AND COOL MY TONGUE FOR I AM TORMENTED IN THESE FLAMES.” Luke 16:26 NCV “BESIDES, THERE IS A BIG PIT BETWEEN YOU AND US, SO NO ONE CAN CROSS OVER TO YOU, AND NO ONE CAN LEAVE THERE AND COME HERE.”

Slide 35:

Hebrews 9:27 “AS IT IS APPOINTED UNTO MEN ONCE TO DIE, AND AFTER THIS THE JUDGMENT.” Matthew 25:46 “AND THESE SHALL GO AWAY INTO EVERLASTING PUNISHMENT. BUT THE RIGHTEOUS TO LIFE ETERNAL.”

Slide 36:

Prov 29:1 “He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.” NKJV
