Sexual intercourse and all matters leading to it ( e.g., kissing, touching, or talking to one’s wife about intercourse or related matters ); Killing game (hunting); and Contracting a Marriage, or acting as a Wali or getting engaged for marriage.

PowerPoint Presentation:

What if a person does any of the things that are forbidden in Ihram? There are four scenarios:

PowerPoint Presentation:

First scenario : If he/she does any of the things that are forbidden in Ihram due to forgetfulness or ignorance or because he is forced to do them, there is no blame on him.

PowerPoint Presentation:

For example : If a man forgets and puts on regular clothes when he is in state of Ihram , he does not have to do anything, but as soon as he remembers he has to take off these clothes.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Second Scenario: If he/she for a genuine reason is compelled to do any of the things that are forbidden in Ihram , like shaving his head, wearing sewn clothes because of cold or something else he/she may do so, but he will have to pay a Fedia.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Fedia is to do one of the following: Slaughtering a sheep, or a goat; Feeding six needy people; or Fasting three days. However, if he does so without any genuine reason, he has to repent to Allah first and pay the Fedia .

PowerPoint Presentation:

Third Scenario: If he has sexual intercourse with his spouse while in the state of Ihram and before the first Tahallul ( i.e., before shaving or cutting one’s hair and throwing Jamratu Al-aqabah in the 10th of Zu-ulhijah ) , it will invalidate his Hajj and in addition, such a person must do the following:

PowerPoint Presentation:

Repent to Allah; Continue performing the rest of his Hajj rites; Slaughter a camel; and Make up for his Hajj the following year.

PowerPoint Presentation:

However, if sexual intercourse happens after the first Tahallul and before the second Tahallul ( i.e., before Tawaf Al-ifadah ), such a person must slaughter a goat or lamb, and his Hajj is valid.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Fourth Scenario: If a person in the state of Ihram contracted a Marriage, or acted as a Wali, such a marriage contract is invalid, and he has to repent to Alllah . There is no Fedia for such type of violation.

PowerPoint Presentation:

The Sunnan (recommended actions) of ihram Before entering the state of Ihram one is recommended to: Take a Qusul (shower) if possible, otherwise he should at least perform ablution ( Wudu ); Trim his finger and toe nails if needed; Shave under his arms and pubic hair if needed;

PowerPoint Presentation:

Trim the moustache ( leave the beard as it is ); and Apply perfume to your head and beard ( men only ), and not to the clothes of Ihram . Note : Women are strictly forbidden to wear perfume in Ihraam or while in the presence of men who are not their Mahram .
