He founded the Altitude Agency in 1991, which was the world's first press agency and images bank specialising in aerial photography (500,000 pictures taken in more than 100 countries by more than 100 photographers). In 1994 Arthus-Bertrand started a thorough study on the state of the Earth sponsored by UNESCO. As part of the study, he made a picture inventory of the world's most beautiful landscapes, taken from helicopters and hot-air balloons. The book from this project, Earth from Above (‘la Terre vue du ciel’) sold over 3 million copies and was translated into 24 languages. In 2000, his "Earth from Above" free exhibition was set up on numerous big posters on the gates of Jardins du Luxembourg in Paris. It then travelled worldwide from Lyon to Montreal, to 110 cities and was visited by 120 million people.Slide 3: Paris, FranceLouver & Ile de la Cité, Paris, France: Louver & Ile de la Cité, Paris, FranceSlide 5: Louvre, Paris, FranceSlide 6: Paris, FranceCharles de Gaulle International Airport, Paris, France: Charles de Gaulle International Airport, Paris, FranceFrance : FranceMillau Viaduct Bridge, France: Millau Viaduct Bridge, FranceMilitary cemetery in Verdun, France: Military cemetery in Verdun, FranceSuburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark: Suburbs of Copenhagen, DenmarkSlide 12: Gullholmen, SwedenSlide 13: Stockholm, SwedenPena, Portugal: Pena, PortugalWalled City of Dubrovnik, Croatia: Walled City of Dubrovnik, CroatiaIstanbul, Turkey: Istanbul, TurkeySlide 17: Bazaar of Istanbul, TurkeyAnatolla, Turkey: Anatolla, TurkeyNeuschwanstein Castle, Germany: Neuschwanstein Castle, GermanySolar plant in Andalusia, Spain: Solar plant in Andalusia, SpainKukes, Albania: Kukes, AlbaniaMonastino of Meteora, Tesalla, Greece: Monastino of Meteora, Tesalla, GreeceIonian Islands, Greece: Ionian Islands, GreeceOrchard Trigales, Macedonia, Greece: Orchard Trigales, Macedonia, GreeceDodecanese, Greece: Dodecanese, GreeceCliffs of Inishmore, Ireland: Cliffs of Inishmore, IrelandMýrdalsjökull on the edge of the Glacier Maelifell, Iceland: Mýrdalsjökull on the edge of the Glacier Maelifell, IcelandHelmaey, Iceland: Helmaey, IcelandTuscany, Italy : Tuscany, ItalySlide 30: Lagoon of Venice, ItalySlide 31: Overview of Venice, ItalyCastle of Trakai, Lake Galve, Lithuania: Castle of Trakai, Lake Galve, LithuaniaLuxembourg: LuxembourgNorway: Norway Tulip fields, Amsterdam, The Netherlands: Tulip fields, Amsterdam, The NetherlandsWindmill in the middle of fields, The Netherlands: Windmill in the middle of fields, The NetherlandsSlide 37: Thank you for watching Edition 2010-04-18 by Herbert K.
