Slide1:

How did we survive ?

Slide2:

How did anyone survive growing up in the 50s, 60s and 70s?

Slide3:

We had no seatbelts, no airbags and sitting in the back of a ute was a treat…

Slide4:

Our baby prams had the most georgeous lead based colours…

Slide5:

No such thing as tamperproof bottle tops… Opening kitchen cupboards was a breeze… as safety locks were unheard off…

Slide6:

Cycling was like a breath of fresh air… no safety helmets, knee pads or elbow pads, and with plenty of cardboards between spokes to make it sound like a motorbike…

Slide7:

When thirsty we only drank tap water—bottled water was still a mystery…

Slide8:

We kept busy collecting bits and pieces of this and that so we could build all sort of things … and we were fearless on our bikes even when the brakes failed going downhill…

Slide9:

We showed off how tough we were by how high we could climb trees and then jumping out….It was great fun….

Slide10:

We could stay out to play for hours, as long as we got back before dark in time for dinner…

Slide11:

We walked to school, or sometimes rode our bikes.

Slide12:

We had no mobile phones, but we always managed to find each other….

Slide13:

We lost teeth, broke arms and legs, got cuts and bruises and bloody noses…. nobody complained since we were having so much fun. It wasn’t anybody’s fault, only ours.

Slide14:

We ate everything in sight: cakes, bread, chocolate, ice cream—and yet we stayed skinny because we were always doing something and not just sitting.

Slide15:

And if one of us was lucky to find a 1 litre Coca Cola bottle, we all had a swag from it. And guess what—nobody picked up any deadly germs...

Slide16:

We did not have Play Stations, MP3, Nintendos, I-Pods, video games, 99 cable TV channels, DVDs, home cinema, mobile phones, home computers, laptops, chat-rooms, Facebook, etc. ... We had REAL friends!!!!

Slide17:

We called on friends to come out to play—never rang the doorbell, just went around the back…

Slide18:

We loved being let loose in the big world…without bodyguards…

Slide19:

We played with sticks and stones, played cowboys and Indians, doctors and nurses, hide and seek, kickball games and others over and over again…

Slide20:

When we failed our exams, we were given a second chance by simply repeating the same grade…without having appointments with psychiatrists, psychologists or counselors…

Slide21:

We had freedom, success, disappointments and responsibilities... Most of all, we learned to respect others…

Slide22:

Are YOU from that generation?? Maybe this message will help you forget the stress that surrounds you these days….and just for a few moments relax and smile as you remember what life was like for many of us in the good old days……

Slide23:

HAVE A SUPER DAY!
