Problem Statement Parents/caretakers of the students studying in colleges/schools need a lot of information about their students like attendance, examination schedules, examination results, notifications, es due particulars and library books due dates. Unfortunately, there are only two ways are obtaining this information by the parents/caretakers in the current day situation – either call the college administrative department or go to the college personally to obtain that information. Both the options are time consuming and cause unnecessary inconvenience to the parents/care givers.

Proposed Solution There is a need for a SMS based student information system for schools and colleges, to provide timely and critical student information to the parents and caregivers. This application allows the parents/caregivers to send an SMS to a predefined number from an already registered mobile number for the required information. Upon receiving the SMS request, the application automatically queries the database for the required student information based on the mobile from which the request has come from and sends back the reply SMS with the requested information.

Access management Module: This module is used to provide access to the appropriate college/school staff like administrative or data entry users to access the application. College/School Information setup and maintenance Module: This module allows admin users to setup and maintain the college/school profile. Student Information setup and maintenance Module: This module allows administrative users to setup and maintain the student information including two registered mobile numbers through which parents can query student information.

It also allows to specify any other notifications pertaining to the students

SMS Query Reading Module: Reads the incoming SMS and prepares the search string by parsing the SMS message. SMS Delivery Module: This module automatically queries the database for student information based on the mobile number and the search string obtained from the SMS, formats the results to suit SMS requirements and finally sends out the SMS to the mobile number from which SMS request has originated. Archiving and cleanup Module: Allows Admin users to Archive/Cleanup old data on the system
