ASRS ?:

ASRS ? An automated storage and retrieval system ( ASRS or AS/RS ) consists of a variety of computer-controlled methods for automatically placing and retrieving loads from specific storage locations (Warehouses). ASRS are used in applications where

ASRS – INDIAN SCENARIO :

ASRS – INDIAN SCENARIO Indian scenario “Till the 90s, most of the warehouses were nothing but a tin shed with four walls. In late 90s and early 2000 changes came with the impact of Globalization and increasing size of business - Entry of many new MNCs as well as global Third Party Logistics providers -Investment of millions of rupees to construct world class warehouses/logistics centres and equip them, with the latest storage and handling equipments as well as IT systems -Race to get edge over competitor and reduce cost of good sold (COGS)

ASRS – INDIAN SCENARIO Warehouse automation in India is at its infancy Indian companies are focusing on warehouse automation There is a huge growth opportunity for the warehousing business in India In India , 100% FDI is allowed in logistics

ASRS – Case North West Airlines:

ASRS – Case North West Airlines It’s an announcement no traveler wants to hear: your flight has been delayed – or worse, cancelled – because some small but essential part on the airplane has malfunctioned and while naturally you want the part fixed or replaced, you also want it done quickly so your flight can be on its way. Northwest Airlines found the best way to minimize these Airplanes on Ground (AOG) situations is to get the necessary parts to its mechanics as quickly as possible. Implementing a Daifuku ASRS system, Northwest has reduced cycle time for picking parts orders by 60%, cutting delivery time for mechanics by 21% for an average of 32,000 parts orders each month. Northwest has also improved inventory accuracy for the 60,000 SKU’s – literally millions of parts – stored in the warehouse. Finally, at 25 feet, 9 inches, the high-density mini load uses every available inch of vertical space. This allows the system to store 7,000 totes, 20% more than a standard 15-20 feet.

ASRS – Case North West Airlines:

ASRS – Case North West Airlines The end result at “Northwest Airlines” is faster parts deliveries to the mechanics who maintain- Northwest’s fleet of more than 400 aircraft. So more than likely, your plane is ready to go when you are

ASRS – Indian Case:

ASRS – Indian Case Genix Automation Pvt Ltd into material Handling through conveyor system and ASRS. Provides ASRS for storing engines for both Tata Motors manufacturing plant at Pune and Fiat India at Ranjangaon System uses RFID tagged pallets to master the complex logistics of handling 100 variants of Tata motors and Fiat India engines The retrival system delivers engines to the two assembly line one for Tata motors manufacturing plant , Pune and Fiat India at Ranjangaon .

ASRS –Indian Case:

ASRS –Indian Case Godrej Efacec provides material handling solutions by the implementation of the ASRS built by Efacec and customized to Indian environment by Godrej. ITC paperboards required a peripheral material handling system which had no error in handling and also gave throughput that matched their manufacturing system. Solution provided in terms of system specification is as follows: Overall Dimensions: 78 Meter (L) X 14 Mts(W) X 18.5 Mts(H). 2 Storage Retrieval Machines Input/Output Conveyors, Elevators integrated with ASRS. 3562 pallet positions Handling rate (Pallets/Hour) : 72
