Open Ended questions : 

Open Ended questions Scoring 0 to 3 points per question 3 Points • The response provides a complete answer to the task (e.g., a statement that offers a correct answer as well as text-based support). • The response provides specific, appropriate, and accurate details (e.g., naming, describing, explaining, or comparing) or examples. 2 Points • The response provides a partial answer to the task (e.g., indicates some awareness of the task and at least one text-based detail). • The response attempts to provide sufficient, appropriate details (e.g., naming, describing, explaining, or comparing) or examples; may contain minor inaccuracies.

Open Ended questions : 

Open Ended questions Asks students to write a short response to a question regarding the reading. This is not a five paragraph essay. It is on average a 7-sentence paragraph. These questions are designed to take about 10 to 15 minutes to answer.

Example question Explain how Smith fits the description of being “gloriously out of step.” Use at least three examples from the passage in your explanation.

Open Ended questions Tips: PROVE IT! Answer the EXACT question/questions being asked. Use scratch paper to brainstorm your written response. Reword or restate part of the question in your topic sentence (This is worth a point!) . 4. Back up and support your response with 2-3 solid text-based facts directly from the passage. Many questions will require a specific number of examples/ details from the passage.
