Demi has 6 erasers and 9 pencils. There is a ratio of erasers to pencils. Which of the answers below is correct? 2:1 2:3 3:1 6:3

PowerPoint Presentation:

How to solve, The problem is asking for the ratio of erasers to pencils. That can also be written as erasers per pencil or erasers : pencil or erasers/pencil, or erasers per pencil. The answer choices show the numbers with the : sign in between, 6:9 is not one of the choices. The first number, 6, is smaller than the second number, 9. All the choices that have the first number as being the larger than the second number are incorrect. The only choice that has the first number being smaller than the second number is choice b, but the numbers are not 6 and 9. Both the 6 and the 9 may be divided by 3. After dividing both 6 and 9 by three you are left with 2 and 3. Choice b has 2:3 as the answer, that is the correct choice
