Sustainability Initiative : Sustainability Initiative Our initiative is for Broward College: To begin a multi-phase project of using reusable stainless steel bottles, to be sold at the Cafeterias and the Bookstores To eliminate plastic and paper cups in the Cafeterias To begin a program in the Cafeterias of a reduced cost of beverages when students bring reusable cups Rationale for Sustainability : Rationale for Sustainability The rationale for the sustainability initiative that Green Beings proposes is a beverage re-fill system utilizing reusable, eco-friendly stainless steel or ceramic cups with beverages instead of paper, plastic, and styrofoam cups in an effort to procure sustainability on our campuses. Research – Stainless Steel Bottles : Research – Stainless Steel Bottles Steel is one of the most hygienic surfaces for the preparation of foods and very easy to clean, as its unique surface has no pores or cracks to harbor dirt, grime or bacteria. It is very attractive and requires minimal care, since it will not chip or rust easily and it takes little seasoning. With proper care, it has a useful life expectancy of over 100 years, and it is totally recyclable.
