PALAYAM Slide 2: We are very eager to know what’s happening here… Slide 3: ALSO WE ARE VERY EAGER TO KNOW WHAT THESE CLIPPINGS TELL… Slide 4: HENCE WE ARE FOCUS ON… Slide 5: OBJECTIVES OF OUR CLUB… To define Global Warming To identify the factors that cause Global Warming To analyze the causes of Global Warming To discuss about the effects of Global Warming To create an awareness about Global Warming To design a resolution to save the earth and put into practice Slide 6: To achieve our Objectives our club members are assigned the role of ECOLOGISTS and split into the following teams to do different activities. Presenters – To make this project for you Collectors – Collects information and Data Reporters – Interview some persons to get Information Analysts – Analyze the information and takes a resolution Actors – Do Programs to create awareness Gardeners – Plants and maintains trees Slide 7: Gradual increase in the earth's surface temperature. Global Warming means… Slide 8: CAUSES… The main cause for Global Warming is Carbon dioxide (CO2) gas emission. Global warming is caused by the emission of greenhouse gases. Slide 9: 72% of the totally emitted greenhouse gases is carbon dioxide (CO2), 18% Methane and 9% Nitrous oxide (NOx) Slide 10: From the below graph we came to know that the emissions of CO2 have been dramatically increased within the last 50 years and are still increasing by almost 3% each year Slide 11: The carbon dioxide is released to the atmosphere where it remains for 100 to 200 years. This leads to an increasing concentration of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere (see the graph below). Slide 12: Which in turn causes the average temperature on Earth to raise see the graph below… Slide 13: Recent investigations have shown that inconceivable catastrophic changes in the environment will take place if the global temperatures increase by more than 2° C (3.6° F). A warming of 2° C (3.6° F) corresponds to a carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration of about 450 ppm (parts per million) in the atmosphere. Slide 15: Melting of Ice Glaciers… Slide 16: 1979 TO 2003 SEA ICE COMPARISON Slide 17: Ice Cap in 2003 Ice Cap in 1979 This will cause rise in Sea Level… Slide 18: Over the last 100 years, the global sea level has risen by about 10 to 25 cm Sea Level rise due to Global Warming… Slide 19: We will see some pictures of Puducherry Beach during the period of 1980’s Slide 20: We went to Puducherry Beach now and observed that the level has been raised. We have shown the picture below… Slide 21: We wish to save our mother earth so... We have asked... Slide 22: “How to reduce Global Warming?”, Sir Reduce usage of non renewable Energy Reduce usage of Plastics Reduce usage of Vehicles Reduce usage of coal, petrol, diesel, etc. Plant as many trees as possible and maintain it “Do the following and see the Chart given below. Surely we can reduce Global Warming…” Slide 23: To reduce Global Warming… Slide 24: Our Resolution…. We have taken a Pledge in our club that We will not use plastics We will plant at least one tree and maintain it We will not use equipments like AC, Refrigerator, etc. We will save energy We will Create an awareness about Global Warming Slide 25: Earth Savers trying to save the Earth… Slide 26: Our Actors in Field to create Awareness to Save Earth… Slide 27: Our Actors in Field to create Awareness to Save the Earth… Slide 28: Our displays to save the Earth… Slide 29: Our thanks to….
