Anup was identified by the GoSports team in November 2007, when he held the World No. 25 rank and was the highest-ranked male badminton player in India
At that point, Anup was riding on a wave of recent success at the World Badminton Championships, where he beat formidable opponents and reached the quarterfinals…

Worked closely with his coach in scheduling, monitoring and tracking his training and competitions.
Secured the services of Thomas John, world-renowned coach, to be Anup’s personal and traveling coach in the lead up to the Olympic Games
Represented his best interests to secure funding from various sources – govt., private trusts, corporations etc.
- Facilitated access to essential support services like lawyers, doctors, media etc. and played a critical role in injury management after the Olympics

Achievements Hardest recorded smash at the 2007 World Badminton Championships held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Anup's performance at the World Championships was rated among the top-10 Indian sporting performances of 2007. Career-high world ranking of 24 and lone male representative in Badminton at Beijing. Known as the ‘Giant Killer’ in elite circles because he consistently defeats higher ranked opponents. Case in point - His win over Taufik Hidayat – former world no. 1, gold medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics and 2005 World Champion at the World Badminton Championships in 2007. Eklavya Awardee in 2004 and Arjuna Award winner in 2007 in recognition of his many sporting achievements Sponsored by Yonex and SLK Software and training expenses are funded by the Tata Padukone Badminton Academy. Thomas John’s expenses borne by his employer – BPCL.

- Within the top 10 in the world and winner of at least one Super Series tournament. Medalist at the 2010 Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
