Have a look at what happened to my ‘Secret Garden..’PowerPoint Presentation: I have tried to make a comparative presentation regarding the damage to the trees of VAK’s rear garden This garden has been a source of enormous joy to me. I have spent hours with the trees, each of them with its individual characteristic has a special link with me. I have witnessed all the seasonal changes in all of them, enjoyed the various birds in this garden ~ the crows, sparrows, parrots, myna/kabar, cuckoo/koel, variety of humming birds, eagles, doves, forked tail/black, kingfisher, wood pecker and many others not known to me. Squirrels, hunting for food and their chasing and swiftness are amazing. I watch them all untiringly. Birds’ flights, their communications, chirping, sweet songs ~ I have enjoyed all these a lot. There are magical moments which I experienced like flashes, leaving me floating in the dazzle. These moments are my treasures gifted by Nature. The trees in the VAK garden seen from my place are ~ two mango trees, one neem, one champo/psychological perfection, two palm trees, one sonmahor/service tree and one papaya tree. Others are in the compound of the Vinayaga temple priest’s house. They are ~ one mango tree, one papaya and two coconut trees. The ‘green wall’ as I call it, has given me a secluded corner, away from the hassle of the world, there exist only Nature and….I. All these trees and the throbbing life together make my ‘Secret Garden.’ Here is, how it was and how it is….now!!!PowerPoint Presentation: tall papaya, dense champo, mango on the right side huge green wall hides me from the opposite buildings and vice versaPowerPoint Presentation: hardly anything is visible through the trees at first landing down on the stairs- coconut tree-papaya and other trees. From here some portion of the buildings could be seen.PowerPoint Presentation: Then…………………………and………………now The neighbour’s overhead tank is hidden behind me. The dense left mango tree is no more dense and has bent towards right where earlier neem tree was seen, coconut is bent, broken papaya is seen from this angle.PowerPoint Presentation: dense mango tree touching the second house wall- scene behind is not at all visible and now….barren mango tree with a huge branch broken which was touching the second house and hiding the view of the houses behindPowerPoint Presentation: 3 different pictures make one scenePowerPoint Presentation: Taller coconut tree two friends-now parted. Below, dense mango tree and behind is neem Barren left mango tree Taller Coconut tree’s Broken trunk taller coconut tree’s broken trunkPowerPoint Presentation: Coconut tree as seen from top terrace original position of coconut tree, left two mango trees-behind tall neem and on right another mango treePowerPoint Presentation: Everyone who visited the top terrace is fascinated by the greeneryPowerPoint Presentation: competition of height--- mango-neem-sonmahor-coconut-papaya-champo Now…bent coconut~one papaya disappeared~another with broken trunk~ two palm trees fallen and totally barren neem, only main branches remained~sonmahor heavily damaged. Behind the coconut is the bent left mango tree which is not there in the first picture on this page Closer view of neem and papayaPowerPoint Presentation: Two palm trees Before and After Sonmahor Before and afterPowerPoint Presentation: Mango on right side with only one branch remaining. A huge mango tree behind the one near my rear balcony is badly damagedPowerPoint Presentation: Coconut tree is now leaning on the right side of top terracePowerPoint Presentation: Top terrace ~ Coconut tree was towards the left side. The coconuts used to fall on the staircase near my rear balcony, breaking the pots, damaging the plants~kept at the landing. I had wished it to lean faster ~ indeed it was leaning towards the top terrace gradually ~ so that my pots are safe. I never imagined it will come true so painfully. Now it is on the right side. The coconuts will fall in the Bank’s junk yard.PowerPoint Presentation: View from the top terrace Then and nowPowerPoint Presentation: You must have got some idea of the trees and their look and location. Here is a rough description of the location of the trees. Right Two palm trees You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
