Presentation Description

Photos from construction of San Diego's New Central Library (September 2011). Structural work has begun on the sixth floor of the nine floor new center for learning and literacy in San Diego. The exciting civic project is progressing on time and on budget. The new library is scheduled to open in summer of 2013.

Concrete work on the sixth floor deck.

Library entrance. Glass doors here will open wide during good weather to create a large, open public space.

Interior wall work has begun on the first floor.

Work on fifth floor waffle structure. The concrete waffle forms add strength to building allowing for extra weight of books.

View of East Arcade. Below the overhangs to the right will be large glass-enclosed alcoves with seating and views onto Park Boulevard.
