Marion Wilcox established the Marion Wilcox Garden Club.
She was a woman of faith, action, and vision.
She is notable for her numerous contributions to the city of Tyler including her help
in organizing the first Texas Rose Festival
There were twelve women who shared her vision and joined the club.
1958
The club is revamped and reformed with the help of Mrs. Zeb Spruiell.
There were sixteen members who were very serious about gardening.
Over the years the club changed and grew.
1992
The club is opened to daughters and daughters in law of the existing members.
Twenty women accepted membership
Today the Marion Wilcox Garden Club has 56 active members who continue to share
Mrs. Wilcox’s vision of a better Tyler. Our History
