Elegant and Iconic Jewelry in Audrey Hepburn Movies :

Elegant and Iconic Jewelry in Audrey Hepburn Movies Audrey Hepburn was and will always be one of Hollywood’s most loved icons. Since her debut first major American film “Roman Holiday” released in 1953, Hepburn had lighted up the giant screen time after time in some of the all-time most memorable movies. However, it is not only her powerful acting that has remained etched in the minds of the avid filmgoer; it is also her splendid costumes and exquisite and elegant jewelry that stood out. And till today, they have not gone out of fashion, rather, their replicas are much sought after and worn with pride at any formal or informal dos and costume parties. Of all the jewelry worn by Audrey Hepburn in her movies, here are a few that had taken Hollywood by storm, mostly created by famous designers of those times.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s:

Breakfast at Tiffany’s The film was released in 1961, eight years after her debut in Hollywood but for the sheer extravagance and beauty of the jewelry Hepburn wore, Breakfast at Tiffany’s will always be on the top of the list. The pièce de résistance of the jewelry collection was the five-strand pearl necklace she had on in the opening scene matched with the little black dress created by famous French designer Herbert de Givenchy. Her black earrings embellished with three singular pearls she put on in another scene are famously known today as the  Audrey Hepburn style earrings . But the jewelry of Audrey Hepburn in the movie was overshadowed by the necklace she wore for the promos. It was the Ribbon Rosette necklace from Tiffany’s store consisting of yellow diamonds of 128.54 carats. The necklace is now on display at the store on Fifth Avenue, New York.

Slide 3:

How to Steal A Million In this William Wyler’s classic, Audrey Hepburn sets the screen on fire in a dazzling display of jewelry and accessories in almost every scene. But as in most of her films, there are one or two pieces that stand out from the rest. In “How to Steal A Million”, it is the scene where Hepburn as Nicole goes to the Ritz. Viewers are left amazed at the typical Audrey Hepburn style earrings  –  oversized diamond clip-on earrings by Cartier.

Slide 4:

Sabrina In this movie, Audrey Hepburn plays Sabrina, the daughter of a wealthy family’s chauffeur who spends two months in Paris before returning as a refined, contemporary young woman. She wears the most gorgeous ensembles and jewelry, mostly designed by her personal friend the famous Hubert de Givenchy, in the whole movie and lives up excellently to her role. The gold hoop earrings especially were forward-thinking in 1957 when the film was released as it became the hottest trend in the 60’s as Audrey Hepburn style earrings . Apart from these films, Hepburn had worn eye-catching jewelry in all her roles – Roman Holiday, War and Peace, Nun’s Story, and My Fair Lady.
