Experiencing the Eight Intelligences :

Experiencing the Eight Intelligences

Slide 3:

The Intelligences

Who is MORE intelligent? :

Who is MORE intelligent?

Intrapersonal (Self) :

Intrapersonal (Self) Meditation (Pit Stops) Connect to their experiences Visualize, dramatize alone Sharing feelings, Imaginary dialogues, Reflecting back on the lessons, Judging and self assessments Questioning self, compare, contrast, dissect in mind

self genie :

self genie If you have strong intrapersonal intelligence you might learn better by Avoiding distractions Establishing personal goals Playing solitary games Setting own pace Working alone Relating personal experiences

Self Genie - Using guided visualization for Learning :

Self Genie - Using guided visualization for Learning EXPLORING THE OCEAN & ITS FOOD CHAIN – Play appropriate music softly in the background.   Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and slowly exhale. Relax your entire body….feel your body going limp…… Imagine that you are floating up in the air and are slowly being carried to the seashore…you are standing on the seashore, feeling the waves gently lapping at your feet. Take a moment and smell the sea…..taste the salt in the air….   Feel yourself becoming smaller and smaller….small enough to be enveloped in a protective, transparent bubble that is as small as a soap bubble. You are being slowly carried by the gentle breeze and deposited on the surface of the sea…you are floating….the surface waters of the sea are sunlit and warm. Look around you carefully and you can see microscopic plants called plankton grow here. A drop of seawater is full of these plants, so small, that you cannot see them with the naked eye. They need sunlight to grow. As you are watching, you can see that tiny animal plankton, also known as the zooplankton, is eating the plant plankton. The zooplankton looks just like small floating plants.

Ocean and Food chain :

Ocean and Food chain Take a look at your right….do you see a group of small white fish with coloured fins & tail? They are called anchovies and look…..they are eating the zooplankton!   Feel the bubble that you are in, move slowly into the midwaters. It is a little gloomier here and not as warm as the surface. Take a look around and you will find slightly bigger fish like the tuna, swordfish and squids…. And the tuna is heading straight for the anchovy fish and has gobbled it down in a flash! Your bubble is now entering the darker waters…many hundreds of feet below the surface. There is little food here. Many of the fish here, like the gulper eel & anglers have extra large mouths so they can easily catch other smaller fish like the tuna as their prey. Although it is dark, can you still see some flashes of light……this light comes not from the sun, but from some of the fish living here like the lantern fish and the translucent octopus that seems to glow in the dark? Slowly your bubble has entered the bottom of the seabed, which is dark & cold. There are very few fish that live here. You will see some sea lilies & sea cucumbers that look like plants, but are actually fish!

Ocean and Food chain :

Ocean and Food chain Big fish like the mighty sharks eat smaller fish like the gulper eels and the anglers. Do you see how the mighty shark has completed the food chain and is at the top of the chain? Let’s just go over the complete chain from the beginning….the plant plankton is eaten by the zooplankton, which is eaten by the anchovies. The anchovies are eaten by the tuna, which in turn is eaten by the gulper eel and the mighty shark eats the gulper eel and completes the food chain in the ocean. Plants, which create food using sunlight, are at the bottom of every food chain – and thus a series of living things are dependent on one another for food.   It is time now for your bubble to rise from the dark depths of the sea….ever so slowly….through the midwaters…. to the surface of the sea. Your bubble is floating on the surface now and being gently carried by the waves towards the seashore. Your bubble is deposited on the warm sands of the shore….your bubble slowly opens up..releasing you….feel yourself slowly grow bigger & bigger till you become your normal self. Feel the gentle breeze on your face, smell the air….then slowly float back to the room where you sitting… take a moment to feel the ground on which you are sitting…come back slowly to the present. When you are ready, open your eyes slowly.

Mathematical (Logic) :

Mathematical (Logic) Exploration, observation, experimentation and investigation. Critical and analytical thinking Building mental models Planning, systematic evaluation Working with actual numbers Problem Solving Challenges

LOGIC Intelligence for learning :

LOGIC Intelligence for learning Read a story Now make a flow diagram of the story: Example:Ramayan Kaykai wants Bharat to be king, so Ram sent to exile In forest Sita and Lakshman insist on accompanying him Ravana, who wants Sita to be his wife sees this as opportunity and kidnaps her Takes her to Lanka Hanuman and his monkey army comes to help Ram get Sita back War between Ram & Ravana They build bridge across sea Ram defeats Ravana and comes back to Ayodhya to be the rightful king At Ayodhya

logic genie :

logic genie If you have strong logical-mathematical intelligence you might learn better by Recording information systematically Setting up experiments (“What if…?”) Playing strategy games (Chess, Checkers) Analyzing data Asking logical questions Using the internet

Slide 30:

This presentation is part of a workshop Geniekids conducts for children in the age group 9-16 years. We believe its not important to “study hard” but to “study smart” – That is study with an understanding of how our brain works, how we learn. This ensure better efficiency and effectiveness. In fact the principles of study skills are fairly intuitive and also known for centuries – yet the oft heard comment (from parents) is why didn’t somebody tell me about this when I was in school / college. Study skills benefit one and all, are simple to imbibe and result into more enjoyable learning process. Please visit our website to know more as well as browse the web in general to discover and understand learning more. Contact us if you want us to conduct workshop for your child, school, or children of your community or even train you (as an adult) to further train children.
