Before I decided to relocate to Seattle I lived in the Midwest in a town that is known for a number of things unrelated to the medical field. But there is a one very large medical research company in the town and another a couple hours north. Of course, I’m talking about Indianapolis, IN home of the Indy 500. As a result of that facility and the race it runs each year, there are a number of top Doctors that live in the area or travel there to provide medical support in cases where things go a little wrong on the track. Some of the top orthopedic doctors and residents live in the area.

But that’s not where they are needed. We need doctors to NRMP Match and relocate to Seattle where people are much more active. Seattle has water skiing, snow skiing, cycling, mountain climbing… some of the most active people in the US have decided to relocate to Seattle for these reasons alone. That active lifestyle makes for a need to have more top doctors to relocate to Seattle during their NRMP Match. There are many choices, too. Swedish Hospital, Virginia Mason, Harborview… And don’t forget the kids. Children’s Hospital is a top research and care facility for our little ones. Families often relocate to Seattle in order to get the best doctor care for their ailing child.

The hospitals in Seattle provide a great place for residency as well as fellowship. For doctors involved in their NRMP Fellowship Match, Seattle is a great choice. Relocating is easy. There are a number of resources to find the right neighborhood to reside for the easiest commute to the NRMP matched doctor. Of course, without the proper planning, the NRMP Match can turn into a challenge. Seattle is surrounded by water.

Neighborhoods around hospitals are often some of the finest Seattle has to offer. It’s a great match to help the doctor that wants to relocate to Seattle maintain a healthy lifestyle by reducing commute time to and from the hospital where she or he got their NRMP Match.

There are great sources like the one listed above to help figure out the answers to these questions as well. While schools might not be important for one doctor that wants to relocate to Seattle, another that has just gotten their NRM Match might have already started a family so schools and close shopping with be a higher priority.
