Slide 2:
After quitting smoking, I decided to continue with my health-consciousness and quit tanning as well. It was very hard to do, especially in the middle of winter and with about $50 worth of tans left on my account. My skin looks great, but I can’t help but feel like a pale monster. I’m blinding people with my whiteness! I would love to use a self tanner or try a spray-on tan at a salon, but I am terrifed to end up orange or streaked.
Slide 3:
Winter can be rough because we’re not only pale, but we’re kind of ashy and sallow-looking too. But I’ve always thought that a tan in winter looks kind of silly (unless you just came back from the Carribbean). Moisturize your skin religiously! That will do a lot to improve the appearance, as well as gently exfoliating to smooth the rough spots and removing the dead skin.
Slide 4:
If you really want to do the sunless tanning, exfoliate your skin first. Both the spray tans at the salon and the stuff you buy at the drug store work equally well and the trick is just making sure that it’s spread evenly over your skin with a touch more on the high points of your face which naturally get more sun (your nose, forehead, chin and cheekbones). Both last around the same time (about a week).
Slide 5:
If you have a special event, you might want to spurge on getting an airbrush tan. An artist will literally paint you from head to toe and highlight all the good parts. It’s the most money, but will look gorgeous. Unfortunately it really doesn’t last any longer than the less expensive methods.
Slide 6:
Congratualtions on quitting smoking! And cheers for giving up on tanning too. You’ve just taken two big steps in protecting your health for the rest of your life.
