Introduction : 

Introduction The International Learning Survey become one of the most important research on training and education in Italy The main aim of the Survey: benchmark the Italian (private and public) organizations with the best in class international companies to put in evidence trends, ideas, methodologies Human Resources Vice Presidents, Chief Learning Officers, Heads of Corporate Universities responded to a questionnaire with 23 items and, in many cases, to an interview The main results have been shared in the 5th Day of Management Education and published in various articles.

The education dilemma: short term results and / or innovation? : 

The education dilemma: short term results and / or innovation? The data of the second Survey confirms the trend emerged in the first research: the training and education provided by Italian organizations is more focused on implementing strategies and achieving short term results, while in the International organizations the emphasis on innovation is stronger The second Survey shows the innovation as the top priority in the next 3 years for the Italian organizations All the organizations are focused on training and developing talents considered important actors in promoting, leading and implementing the processes of innovation and change.

The growing competition among the learning suppliers : 

The growing competition among the learning suppliers The Italian organizations prefer to work with individual experts and trainers; while the International organizations prefer to work with Business Schools Many organizations widely use executives and managers as trainers (and sometimes as coaches) to reduce costs The large consultancy companies are mainly involved in implementing processes of innovation and introducing new methodologies.

Main challenges for learning suppliers : 

Main challenges for learning suppliers Improving the “customization” of programmes (for example design, contents) Growing importance of innovation in terms of contents and learning methodologies Obtain results consistent with the aims and objectives of the organizations (often using specific indicators and parameters) Contribute to improve efficiency and reduce the overall training costs.

Main challenges for the education Improving the integration with HR systems, mainly, those supporting the “leadership pipeline” Improving the integration with the top management, mainly, to foster innovation Maintaining and developing the core competencies for the entire value chain Increasing importance to the internationalization of the education
