LOOK, AND TELL ME WHAT YOU SEE? The previous image on the left is by Michael Angelo that he called the face of God. The image on the right is one someone took of the sky, a cloud specifically and they name it or entitled it also the face of God! In tonight’s message we are going to look at 2 very important topics on what happens when we as BELIEVERS are in the FACE OF GOD - simply meaning in His divine favor! If you really want to see the KING’S face then look at these 2 attributes coming out of HIS people's lives and it could not be any clearer! 2

Our Text:Proverbs 16:14-15 :

Our Text:Proverbs 16:14-15 14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it. 5

Slide 6:

There has to be away for the KING to be pacified – only by the shedding of BLOOD and by our faith and application in that BLOOD making our hearts clean! More on this later! “wrath” #2534 (khay-maw’) heat; figuratively anger, poison (from its fever): - anger. “pacify” #3722 (kaw-far’) to cover (specifically with bitumen); figuratively to expiate or condone, to placate or cancel: - appease, make (an) atonement. This same word is used many times in the Word of God (see below) – here is just one instance with Noah and the prophet Isaiah: *Genesis 6:14 says Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. *Isaiah 6:6-7 says Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, AND THY SIN PURGED. 6

At Salvation We are Seated in Heavenly Places :

At Salvation We are Seated in Heavenly Places In the lower right hand corner you see a image of Napoleon’s throne just to give us a visual. Now think about what the throne represents – POWER! To you and me today its hard to understand. But if we have the KING’S Countenance – HIS FACE then we have the throne and the power that it represents! 8

No MatterHow Low We Feel :

No MatterHow Low We Feel 10 2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

No FACE = No LIFE & FEAR :

No FACE = No LIFE & FEAR Genesis 4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. 11

Slide 12:

Remember this was a time for atonement – for sacrifice – Abel pleased the KING, had HIS face but Cain didn’t please the KING and lost the face of GOD! For the full thought please mediate upon these verses: *Genesis 4:1-16 says And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bore Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. 2 And she again bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, AND HIS COUNTENANCE FELL. 6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. 8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. 9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? 10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. 11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. 13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. 15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. 16 AND CAIN WENT OUT FROM THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. 12

No FACE = No LIFE & FEAR :

No FACE = No LIFE & FEAR Genesis 4:16 AND CAIN WENT OUT FROM THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. 13

Slide 14:

“presence” #6440 (paw-neem’) the face as the part that turns. “Nod” #5113 (node) vagrancy (one who has no established residence and wanders idly from place to place without lawful or visible means of support); Nod, the land of Cain: - Nod. So as Cain lost the “FACE of the KING” he lost life and he lost favor and lived a fearful existence from that point on. 14

#1 LifeIn the light of the king's countenance is LIFE :

#1 LifeIn the light of the king's countenance is LIFE Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it. 15

Slide 16:

In the light of the king’s countenance is LIFE; his FAVOR and smiling countenance is most sweet and refreshing, especially to him that was under a sentence of death – REMEMBER VERSE 14 – THERE MUST BE ATONEMENT! 16

ALL We Do is ACCEPT :

ALL We Do is ACCEPT Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as CHRIST also hath loved us, and. hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savor Hebrews 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God; 17

Slide 18:

In the previous slide: Here are 2 witness for us to build our faith on, by accepting (God the Father has) what Christ has already done we can pacify the KING and have life and favor! 18

#1 LifeIn the Light of the King's Countenance is LIFE :

#1 LifeIn the Light of the King's Countenance is LIFE 1John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us life, and this life is in his Son. Let’s Look @ 2 TYPES 19

#1 LifeIn the Light of the King's Countenance is LIFE :

#1 LifeIn the Light of the King's Countenance is LIFE Let’s Look @ 2 TYPES (Abundant) John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 20

Slide 21:

The thief takes life; Christ gives it to the full. All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers: Thief implies deception and trickery; robber implies violence and destruction. These take away life but Jesus gives life and He gives it abundantly. “more abundantly” #4053 (per-is-sos’) superabundant (in quantity) or superior (in quality); by implication excessive. 21

Abundance? :

Abundance? 22

Slide 23:

23 Abundance is something you are Not something you have Abundance is what you give Not what you get Abundance is a heart attitude Not a bank account Abundance is a life style Not a house style Abundance is a concept Not a collection Abundance is sharing what you love Not counting your shares Abundance is knowing everything is loaned to you Not thinking how much you own Abundance doesn’t depend on riches But on God’s amazing resources Abundance is sharing God’s wealth With anyone and everyone you can.

#1 Life – AbundanceGrace Abounds :

#1 Life – AbundanceGrace Abounds Romans 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 2Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; THAT YE, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 24

#1 Life – Abundance Abundantly Satisfied :

#1 Life – Abundance Abundantly Satisfied Psalms 36:8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. Psalms 63:5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: 25

Slide 26:

“abundantly satisfied” #7301 (raw-vaw’) A primitive root; to slake the thirst (occasionally of other appetites): - bathe, make drunk, (take the) fill, satiate, (abundantly) satisfy, soak, water (abundantly). *Matthew 5:6 says Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. There is a qualifier: *Psalms 36:7 says How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. 26

#1 LifeIn the light of the king's countenance is LIFE :

#1 LifeIn the light of the king's countenance is LIFE Let’s Look @ 2 TYPES (Eternal) John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. 27

#2 Favor His Favor Is As A Cloud Of The Latter Rain :

#2 Favor His Favor Is As A Cloud Of The Latter Rain Proverbs 16:15 In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain. Genesis 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 28

#2 Favor His Favor Is As A Cloud Of The Latter Rain :

#2 Favor His Favor Is As A Cloud Of The Latter Rain 2nd Witness Proverbs 8:35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD. 29

#2 Favor The First &The Latter Rain :

#2 Favor The First &The Latter Rain 30 Deuteronomy 11:14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.

Slide 31:

What God starts He finishes! *Philippians 1:6 says Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: The first rain and the latter rain; the first fell in seed time, to make the corn spring, the other a little before harvest, to ripen it. 31

A “YES” Face :

A “YES” Face 32

Slide 33:

During his days as president, Thomas Jefferson and a group of companions were traveling across the country on horseback. They came to a river which had left its banks because of a recent downpour. The swollen river had washed the bridge away. Each rider was forced to ford the river on horseback, fighting for his life against the rapid currents. The very real possibility of death threatened each rider, which caused a traveler who was not part of their group to step aside and watch. After several had plunged in and made it to the other side, the stranger asked President Jefferson if he would ferry him across the river. The president agreed without hesitation. The man climbed on, and shortly thereafter the two of them made it safely to the other side. As the stranger slid off the back of the saddle onto dry ground, one in the group asked him, “Tell me, why did you select the president to ask this favor of?” The man was shocked, admitting he had no idea it was the president who had helped him. “All I know,” he said, “Is that on some of your faces was written the answer ‘No,’ and on some of them was the answer ‘yes.’ His was a ‘Yes’ face.” 33

#2 Favor The Latter Rain – IN FULNESS :

#2 Favor The Latter Rain – IN FULNESS Psalms 5:12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with FAVOR wilt thou compass (to encircle) him as with a shield. 34

#2 Favor The Latter Rain = ALL POWER :

#2 Favor The Latter Rain = ALL POWER Psalms 89:17 For thou art the glory of their strength: and in THY favor OUR horn shall be exalted. 35

Slide 36:

*Luke 1:69 says And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; God’s promises to us: *Psalms 75:10 says All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted. 36

#2 Favor Each ONE Has Their Part :

#2 Favor Each ONE Has Their Part Acts 7:46-47 David found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob. 47 But Solomon built him a house. 37

Slide 38:

David had favor to do a certain work for the LORD and likewise for Solomon and yes for you and I today! Solomon couldn’t have built the temple without David living in God’s favor to make connections and offerings at the appropriate time! Today we are to help build the spiritual temple and we each one must work in the favor God has bestowed to us! 38

If Your Face Is Toward Me :

If Your Face Is Toward Me 39

Slide 40:

Pastor James Moore of Houston Texas tells a story about a young man whose wife had died, leaving him with a small son. Back home from the cemetery, they went to bed early because there was nothing else he could bear to do. As he lay there in the darkness -- grief-stricken and heartbroken, the little boy broke the stillness from his little bed with a disturbing question, "Daddy, where is mommy?" The father got up and brought the little boy to bed with him, but the child was still disturbed and restless, occasionally asking questions like "Why isn’t she here?" and, "When is she coming back?" Finally the little boy said, "Daddy, if your face is toward me, I think I can go to sleep now." And in a little while he was quiet. The father lay there in the darkness, and then in childlike faith, prayed this prayer: "O God, I don’t see how I can survive this. The future looks so miserable. But if your face is toward me, somehow I think I can make it." That’s what Jesus came to teach us: that God’s face is always towards us. We can have this bedrock conviction: God and you are in this together. Nothing can happen that God and you together cannot manage. Nothing will ever be able to separate you from his love. 40

Slide 42:

Specialists have learned how to project what faces of young children will look like in future with computers and understanding of facial growth patterns. Cathy and Debbi Hicks were identified from reconstructed photos have being abducted by their father 10 years ago. Application - Christians do not know exactly what we shall look like in heaven, but we can project from what we know from Bible now. 42
