Immobilization To register a physical media item that exists outside the Exchange media must be sent to the Exchange to be verified (to show that the media item is the item it is supposed to be), immobilized (so it cannot be counterfeited) and digitized (so the owner can use it). Digital media items obtained from participating organizations are registered at the request of the common customer of those organizations. The participating organization has already immobilized and verified the item through its accounting operation.
