Nicaragua Central America : Nicaragua Central America Miskito People Slide 3: Result of Hurricane Felix in Nov of 2007. On Sept 4th, 2007 Hurricane Felix struck Puerto Cabezas. Slide 4: Destroying over 8,000 homes and buildings. Slide 5: The clinic was totally destroyed, along with the church roof and the school roof. Slide 6: Through your help, Friends in Action went to the Miskito people to demonstrate God’s love with hugs… Slide 7: … water, food and mosquito nets. Slide 8: Each family received beans, rice, salt, oil, etc. Slide 9: Through your giving FRIENDS in Action also purchased . . . Slide 10: …a semi load of cement Slide 11: and a concrete block press. Slide 12: Their wood homes rot out in only 4-5 yrs but the concrete homes will last many more years. Slide 13: Each new home is 20’x20’ Slide 14: The Miskito people learned to make their own blocks. Slide 15: They worked hard to lay the foundations! Slide 16: Miguel's home after the Hurricane. Slide 17: Miguel's new home being built. He is so thankful! Slide 18: The old and the new! Slide 19: Our 2009 Work team Slide 20: In route to the work site each day! Slide 21: Our crew that built the trusses. Slide 22: The Miskito people cut all their own lumber. Slide 26: We trained the Miskito people how to do it themselves… Slide 27: …we installed the trusses together Slide 28: During 2008 & 2009 36 homes were built. Slide 30: PTL for volunteer teams! Slide 31: The village & team poured a concrete floor. Slide 32: The concrete floors are mixed and hand troweled. Slide 33: v God’s love brings smiles! Slide 34: The people were very grateful! Slide 37: Praise the Lord in May the work team accomplished in 11 days… -1o8 trusses were built -13 roofs completed -5 houses ready to go with all the trusses done -One concrete floor was poured -The widow’s home is nearly done. Slide 38: Our goal is to build 20-22 homes each year. Each home costs $3,800. Slide 39: God has raised up national partners to help FIA see this project accomplished.
