Satellite Communications :

Satellite Communications Prepared By Fouad Sabry www.fouadsabry.com

Basic Information :

Basic Information Use 3 – 30 GHz frequencies Support 1 – 10 Gbps data transfer speeds. Frequency bands for satellite communication are limited. Other frequency bands are dedicated for radio astronomers to listen to the universe.

Geosynchronous Satellites :

Geosynchronous Satellites Geosynchronous satellites stay in the same place above the earth. It is easy to keep the ground station antenna aimed at the geosynchronous satellite antenna. Using geosynchronous satellites communication system, only few satellite are needed to provide transmission capability covering most of the world.

Geostationary Satellite :

Geostationary Satellite Geosynchronous satellite is called a geostationary satellite if it is located at an altitude of approximately 22,270 miles (35,880 Kilometers) above the earth in an orbit above the equator. The orbital speed of the satellite at that distance and location will exactly match the speed of the earth rotation, and therefore, the satellite will stay in the same place above the earth.
