Resource Planning & Management For many projects, resources are internal staff allocated part time to the project. This needs careful planning and control. Define skills required and position description Negotiate for required resources with line manager Hold joint meeting with resources and line manager to discuss agreement and enable staff to raise questions and issues. Document final agreement and distribute to all impacted If team member is unable to commit agreed time to the project, meet with team member & line manager to discuss and agree best solution. If no solution, discuss with project sponsor and agree best solution e.g. extend schedule, funding for contract resources. Remember: always document everything!

CONFLICT MANAGEMENT: 

CONFLICT MANAGEMENT Conflict is inherent in the project process Often results from changing or differing priorities, scarce resources and individual work styles Should be resolved at team level first and quickly. The project manager should intervene if conflict cannot be resolved Tips for conflict resolution: Openness helps resolve conflict Should focus on issues, not personalities Should focus on the present not the past May need third party intervention (facilitator or mediator)
