Hungry Ghost Festival : 

Hungry Ghost Festival Zhongyuan Jie or Yulan Jie

Food Serving : 

Food Serving Rice, drinks, and various dishes ; eggs, vegetables, rice, rice wine, bean sprouts, bean curd, fruits, dried logan and peanuts. Pious Chinese ; An entire roasted pig which symbolizes wealth of descendant's family. The spirits will not worry about his or her family.

The next morning, the food is left over on the street or eaten by stray dogs. It is also believed that some Chinese people will be blessed eating those food that has been offered before.

In order to invite spirits and ghosts to come and feast on the offerings, one need to stick a joss stick on every food items.

After the praying, folded joss papers are brought down to the streets to burn. Chinese believed that the deceased can only received them through burning them.

The RED CHAIRS are for the ghosts. No one can sit there as a sign of respect. In the past, nobody viewed the opera because it was only performed for ghosts, not mortals. But nowadays, it entertains people as well as spirits.

There are ghosts in water. The lotus is the symbol of purity. All the ghosts will try to follow the paths of their lanterns from the riverbank. It is also done to redeem the souls of those who had died by drowning. Ghosts find their way back when the lanterns are out.
