Coordinated Occupational Information Network published by EBSCO Publishing International Headquarters COIN is an online career guidance and curriculum program that is available to students, teachers, parents, counselors, and administrators. Purpose of COIN : Purpose of COIN To provide students with connections between skills learned in the classroom with real-world applications of those skills. Provide students with reliable resources and planning assistance that will insure their success in the workplace. Purpose of Coin Cont. : Purpose of Coin Cont. In certain districts, students in 9th grade have to be assessed; using COIN assessments. COIN is used for high school students, to find self -discovery, interests, and career paths along side classes they take over the four years in high school. To start them thinking about future aspirations . Help students stay focused on the careers they are interested. How can students use COIN? : How can students use COIN? Go to: community.coin3.com Log-in into the website( Username, Password, and Site ID is needed) Click on Exploration Center Click on Assessments Choose Assessments that interest you the most. (Examples-Career Cluster Survey or Skills Assessment or Self Assessment , etc.) How can I access COIN? : How can I access COIN? Go to: community.coin3.com Exploration Center : Exploration Center Examples of Testing Format : Examples of Testing Format Rate interests in survey questionnaires: Example: I am able to explain why different types of weather affect how crops and plants grow. Strongly Disagree Degree Neither Agree Strongly Agree Other Reasons Why You Should use COIN : Other Reasons Why You Should use COIN To research: Search possible occupations Search colleges Get information on financial aid Write Resumes Complete a 4 year plan Similar Tests : Similar Tests MAPP Hollands Code Myers-Briggs The Interest-Finder Quiz The Keirsey Temperament Test Review Form : Test Review Form Name of Reviewer: Elizabeth Yates Title of Test: Career Cluster assessment Survey Author: COIN website Publisher: EBSCO Publishing International Headquarters. Purpose of Test: To help students find career paths in high school. They have resources to review and educate themselves using COIN. Standardization: Students are not given time limits for test. Students rate interest by survey questionnaire. Administration: Computer based self-assessment- home, career center, etc. Interpretation of Scoring: When the test is completed by the student. A Completed report of the students career interest generated online. Students can click on the different areas suggested and explore. Limitations: Fee for the program Age recommend: 12- 16 years Grade: 8th – 10th Evaluation : Evaluation Strengths It is a great program to help students keep on track with there aspirations in different career paths.
