What is social media? Social media  refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and/or exchange information and ideas Social media enables people to share information with friends and colleges using the Internet

Positive effects According to a recent research, American people now spend 23% of internet time on social media. Thus it can be seen that nowadays social media has become a very important part of people's life, Social media brings fresh blood to our human's life and it mainly has three positive effects on our society: increasing people's productivities, helping enlarge people's social circles and providing a platform for exchanging ideas. Negative effects:

Negative effects Time wastage It might make you spend more money It messes with your ability to think independently. One  study  from HP Labs found that people were more open to peer pressure within social networks. Subjects were more likely to change their minds about "liking" certain things (one cute baby over another, for instance) if enough time had passed and they could see that the other side was even moderately popular.

Negative effects on students Time wastage Several students are spending too much unnecessary time on social sites rather than doing their homework Instead of taking time and trying to deeper analyze the task they rush through it. 2 . Health Their excessive time spent on these sites has an effect on their health as well because they are not getting enough physical activity due to their addiction on these sites. 3 . Reduction in real life contact S tudent’s ability to communicate face to face has also been affected.

A Brief History of The Facebook:

A Brief History of The Facebook In February 2004, Mark Zuckerberg, with the help of Andrew McCollum and Eduardo Saverin, launched a website that would change online social interaction forever. The Facebook started on the campus of Harvard University, where the three friends were students, Zuckerberg being a psychology major of all things. Within 24 hours of going live, The Facebook was a community of 1200 Harvard University students. The Facebook buzz grew on the Harvard campus and within weeks students from Stanford and Yale wanted in. The network was extended and by April 2004, The Facebook was available on all Ivy League servers.

Approximately 100 million videos are viewed on a daily basis, and about 65,000 videos are uploaded each day. YouTube is one of the fastest growing websites on the Net in terms of visitors
