THE PINE SEED :

THE PINE SEED Anecdote by: Erwin Manalastas Sibayan

Slide 2:

A gentle wind rushed through the forest. Its cold current awakened and disturbed the sleeping pine seed in its cone.

Slide 3:

The seed reacted and retorted indifferently, “Stop it, Wind. What’s the rush? I almost fell”

Slide 4:

The wind replied, “why not ask the ground?” and the wind died down. “Ask the ground? Never,” it told itself.

Slide 5:

After a while, there was a loud voice saying, “G-R-O-W-L!!! Seed!!!” “Who’s that? Who’s that,” asked the frightened seed.

Slide 6:

“S-E-E-D!!!” the voice repeated. “Is that you ground,” the seed asked.

Slide 7:

“Yes, I am,” the ground replied. “How is my dear seed? You are ripe and the ground is now fertile!” “So what,” the seed uttered meanly.

Slide 8:

“It is time for you to fall and grow,” the ground continued. “ A greater world awaits you!” “Why should I trust and believe you? Besides, I might die,” the seed said still with indifference.

Slide 9:

But the ground said, “What is the point of being a seed forever if not fall down to the ground in all humility, to die and be transformed for a greater life!”

Version 1 :

Version 1 The wind left no more words. Then, the ground spoke again, “You will realize later on why you have to stay there for a while.” One day, a boy was playing under the pine tree where the seed was. Version 2

Version 1 :

Version 1 No more words were also heard from the ground. The seed got mad until it felt tired doing so. Days passed and nothing happened. Then, he climbed up the tree … Version 2

Version 1 :

… and shook it with all his might. Version 2 Version 1 Weeks passed, it only remained there. The seed’s skin was almost burnt by the scorching sun, it almost died.

Version 1 :

Version 1 But it has to dry and die. It came to a point that the seed was desperate; it finally gave up its life. The seed has no other choice … Version 2

Version 1 :

Version 1 One day at last, the rain poured; it carried the seed to the ground where the latter grew. … but to let go from its safe haven. Version 2
