FEATURES:

FEATURES Simple vertical boiler has a vertical boiler shell of cylindrical shape. Simple vertical Boiler is WATER TUBE Boiler. boilers have steam generation capacity up to 1000 kg per hour and maximum steam pressure up to 10 bar. Size of the boiler ranges from 0.6 m diameter to 2 m diameter and height from 1.2 m to 4 m high. Simple vertical Boiler efficiency is nearly 50%.

CONSTRUCTION:

CONSTRUCTION CULINDRICAL SHELL: The shell is vertical and it attached to the bottom of the furnace. GRATE: It is placed at the bottom of fire box and coal is fed on it for burning. SAFETY VALVE: The function of the safety valve is to permit the steam in the boiler to escape to atmosphere when pressure in the steam space in the boiler. ASHPIT: It is provide for collecting the ash deposit, which can be removed away at intervals.

CONSTRUCTION:

CONSTRUCTION FUSIBLE PLUG: The function of the fusible plug is to Protect Boiler against damage Due to over Heating for the low water level. HAND HOLES: These are provided in the shell opposite to the ends of each cross tube for cleaning the cross tube MAN HOLES: These are door to allow men to enter inside the boiler for the inspection and repair. FIRE DOOR: Coal is fed to the grate through the fire door.

CONSTRUCTION:

CONSTRUCTION FEED CHECK VALVE: To supply High- perssure water pass into the boiler. STEAM STOP VALVE: The function of the steam stop valve is to shut off or regulate the flow of steam from the boiler to the steam pipe or from the steam pipe to the engine PRESSURE GAUGE : Each boiler has to be provided with a pressure gauge, which record the pressure at which the steam is being generated in the boiler. The gauge is usually mounted at the front top of the boiler shell or drum. The gauge has to be clearly visible to the attendant so that he can easily record the pressure reading. CHIMNEY (or stack): The chimney (stack) passes from the top of the firebox through the top of the shell.

WORKING:

WORKING The fuel (coal) is fed into the grate through the fire hole and is burnt. The ashpit placed below the grate collect the ashes of the burning fuel. Boiler drum is filled with water, the flue gas from the furnace rise in the tube. The exchange of heat takes place between water and flue gases.

WORKING The combustion gas flows from the furnace, passes around the cross tubes. The water temperature raises and it converts into steam and The flue gases temperature drops and low temperature flue gases enters into environment via chimney. The boiler is fitted with all the mountings as per IBR.

IBR and non-IBR boilers (Indian Boiler Regulations):

IBR and non-IBR boilers (Indian Boiler Regulations) Boilers generating steam at working pressure below 10 bar and having water storage capacity less than 22.75 or 25 litres are called non- lBR boilers (Indian Boiler Regulations). Boilers outside these limits are covered by the IBR and have to observe certain specified conditions before being operated.
