General outline to my title In after effects

PowerPoint Presentation:

Similar to Premiere Pro, After Effects took some time to get use to and this was mainly due to the many different buttons; effects and possibilities that we were presented with. This is the first title that I made with some help here and there from the internet. The title has turned out well and the following slides will show effects that I put onto the canvas to make the final title. The title is one of the production companies that helped make our trailer. We created it to make the trailer look and feel professional.

PowerPoint Presentation:

This is my finished canvas however before I started this would have been completely blank. This is the timeline. This is the preview screen. This is the tools that we use. These are the layers of the title. This is where the selected effects can be modified.

PowerPoint Presentation:

The image above shows my timeline and by the looks of it I have included a lot of layers. Many of these layers are the ‘smoke element’ and I will show this layer on the next slide. The layers are put in a specific order that shows them in that order on the preview screen, the timeline also shows several other options such as: 3D and lock layer. As you can see I have clicked the 3D option on nearly all of my layers as this shows my images in a 3D space in the preview screen. As well as this I have also included a camera and null object that allow me to move the ‘camera’ on the preview screen.

PowerPoint Presentation:

The image on the right is my stock image or base image. This image was then duplicated; colour corrected and screwed into different positions multiple times to form the shape on the left. The base image was the only image that I used in this title and taking this into account it looks quite good. The smoke image then twists and appears to be moving as the camera tracks and I achieved this by slightly screwing the image and then choosing the speed that it screwed at.

PowerPoint Presentation:

I set up a 35mm camera on the canvas. This was done so I could later go back and create a tracking motion that would reveal the title as the camera moved. The camera set up is rather basic and I left a lot of the options a lone as I wasn’t comfortable playing with them. As well as this I also created the null object which a mentioned previously, this null object allowed me to zoom onto the title as the camera moved. This made the animated smoother and more realistic.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Both of these options gave me the option to change the basic settings of each effect that I choose. The image above shows the ‘null object’ as an example with the many different options that I could play around with. The image on the left shows a curved line which I could manipulate in order to change the colour of my canvas. Both of these tools came in very good use when making my final title.

PowerPoint Presentation:

These last two images show me firstly creating the name: ‘Cloud IX’ and then secondly screwing the canvas to show that the smoke images are in fact on separate layers in a 3D space showing that I have successfully layered the images on top od each other. I believe that I have done well considering this is my first real attempt on after effects however there is always room for improvement.
