The Racket and The Ball :

The Racket and The Ball http://www.howtodothings.com/sports-recreation/equipment-required-to-play-tennis Rackets are a huge part in Tennis. Without this Racket you cant play the game. 2 things while choosing racket would be power and chock absorption. You should check the rackets size the strings to see if its fit for you. You can buy these at sport stores like DIKES SPORTING GOODS. There people know a lot about different kinds of sports. If your weaker you might want a light tennis racket. If your heavier you don’t want so much of a light racket. Make sure you get a racket that’s a good weight for you. Balls- There are so many varieties of balls. The size/weight can affect your performance. http://sawyerpointtennis.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/tennis-balls-and-rackets.jpg

Tennis Rackets, How have they changed over the years? :

Tennis Rackets, How have they changed over the years? Wooden rackets were generally heavy and had small sweet spots for hitting and delivery. The frames had a huge sweet spot, which were lighter and increased power from the player. A lot of advanced players also got new people to play the game. Graphite Racket- Were stiff, but they were a bit heavy. Later on they put foam in the racket to reduce the weight. There were rackets that were super light like the ultra-light racket, which was mad from aluminum. This racket kept on improving. Later Titanium rackets were ultra light and powerful and it had less impact when it hit the ball. So not so much vibration. Lawn tennis was created in 1870. The rackets were made from wood that was formed into various shapes that were similar to todays keyhole rachets. Which they have a hole by the end of the strings were the racket starts to dip down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis http://static.rfid-weblog.com/rfid-weblog.com/imgname--how_about_tennis_rackets_as_rfid_reader---50226711--RFID-Tennis-Racket.jpg

How do polymers improve the tennis racket. :

How do polymers improve the tennis racket. Since it lasts long and moisture can’t damage it, they’re a variety of synthetic polymers that have been chemically compounded into strings for use in tennis rackets. The strings are lacking in strength. The strings break when exposed to higher temperatures, therefore losing the tension in the stringed racket. http://www.arkema-inc.com/index.cfm?pag=356 http://www.whatsalltheracquet.com/archives/pictures/chaneltennis.jpg

Tennis Balls, How did they change over years? :

Tennis Balls, How did they change over years? Balls used to be black and white colored, but it was depended of what color the courts were. 1972 a company ITF introduced yellow tennis balls. They made them yellow because it was more visible to people watching TV. Then came high altitude balls which were introduced in the game. The size has been more shaped and more lighter. It is also very bouncy, so players can make them go back and forth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis_ball http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31A4VJ6E70L._SL500_AA280_.jpg

How do polymers improve tennis balls? :

How do polymers improve tennis balls? Leather was one of the first materials used to make tennis balls. Used because it was comfortable, has a lot of friction, for gripping. Gut string is made from the outer most skin of cow intestines. Disgusting I know. They called it serosa. Natural rubber is used for the balls core. To give it the light weight and bounciness. http://www.freepatentsonline.com/4306719.html http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2007/08/01/health/adam/18055.jpg
