Contact the Respondent The respondent is the person against whom you are making your claim Ideally you should contact them within 2 months of your accident/injury
Submit your application:
Submit your application Submit your application to the Injuries Board You need.. 1) a medical report from your G.P. 2) fee of €45 3) form A from the Injuries Board must be completed You have 2 years from the date of accident to make your claim but there are exceptions to this time limit
What happens next?:
What happens next? Injuries Board contact the respondent, provided your application is acceptable to Injuries Board The respondent is given details of your application including medical report If the respondent agrees to the Injuries Board making an assessment of damages within 90 days.. The Injuries Board makes the assessment and puts a monetary value on your injuries
If respondent does not agree..:
If respondent does not agree.. If the respondent does not agree to the assessment the Injuries Board issues a letter of authorisation and you bring legal proceedings to hold him/her responsible
If the respondent agrees..:
If the respondent agrees.. If the respondent agrees then the Injuries Board make their assessment, sends it you and the respondent If the respondent and you agree to the amount being awarded by the Injuries Board then the Board issues an order to pay If either you or the respondent do not agree then the Board issues a letter of authorisation and you must bring legal proceedings in Court
