However these fees work differently depending on whether the item is Buy It Now or an Auction. First we will talk about auction listing fees an auction listing fee is a fee you pay for putting an item up for auction.

Auction Listing Fees:

Auction Listing Fees Auction Listing Fees are determined by the the starting price you set. So it's a good idea to become familiar with the chart on the right. Know where the cutoff points are to save on fees. Starting Price Listing Fee 0 - $0.99 $0.10 $1.00 - $9.99 $0.25 $10.00 – 24.99 $0.50 $25.00 – 49.99 $0.75 $50.00 – $199.99 $1.00 $200+ $2.00 Note: eBay allows for up to 50 free listings a month (if you aren't a store subscriber)

Auction Listing Fees For Stores:

Auction Listing Fees For Stores Ebay store subscribers pay the same auction style listing fees as non-subscribers do (and they don't get the 50 free listings a month) Where they do save is on Final Value Fees and Buy It Now Listings (more on that later)

BIN Listing Fees:

BIN Listing Fees Next we will talk about Buy It Now Listing fees. Buy It Now Listing are different from auctions in that the item is up for sale at a set price. Also, Buy It Now Listings can be set for 30 days instead of the maximum 10 days for an auction.

BIN Listing Fees :

BIN Listing Fees For most categories the standard BIN Listing Fee is $0.50 For media items like Books, DVDs, and Video Games the BIN Listing Fee is $0.05 Store subscribers get discounts on BIN Listing Fees. The bigger the store subscription plan the more discounts they get. (more on that later)

BIN Fees For Stores:

BIN Fees For Stores Opening an eBay store gives you a nice advantage when selling BIN items. Unless you sell primarily media items which are already discounted to $0.05 Ebay Basic Store $0.20 Ebay Premium Store $0.05 Ebay Anchor Store $0.03

Extra Features Fees:

Extra Features Fees The thing about extra features is that they are pretty much a waste of money. Most can be accomplished with a little more effort for free. Listing Designer Use your own template or download one. Picture Packs Insert pictures using free pic hosting. Scheduled Listings Upload listings from TurboLister Gallery Plus Only use for rare/High value items. Bold Not really necessary.

Now let's get into Final Value Fees. Final Value Fee are charged only after an item sells. Depending on what type of item it is a percent of the total value is charged. The total value being the price of the item plus shipping costs.

Auction Final Value Fees:

Auction Final Value Fees Auction FVFs are pretty straight forward they are a percent of total cost of the purchase including shipping. This new policy means that low priced item that are hard to ship will be hit hard. The FVFs for auction items is 9% for sellers without a store. For all categories. Sellers with a store subscription are charged 7.5% or less for high priced items.

BIN Final Value Fees:

BIN Final Value Fees Buy It Now Final Value Fees are a bit harder. They are based on which category the item is in and the sales price. Having an eBay store doesn't lowered BIN FVFs. Electronics (Includes Cell Phones, Game Consoles) No more than 7% of total price. Clothing, Shoes & Accessories No more than 10% of total price. Media Items (Books, DVDs, Video Games) No more than 13% of total price. Everything Else No more than 11% of total price.

As we've touched on already opening an ebay store lowers BIN Listing Fees and Auction FVFs. However there is Store Subscription Fee that is charged monthly. Let's analyze what you get by opening a store.

Cost Monthly $49.95 BIN Listing Savings $0.45 For every non-media BIN Listing. Auction FVFs Savings At least 1.5% of each auction item. Marketing Tools Customizable Store, Email Marketing, Store Branding. Number BIN Listings/Auction Sales to break even. 111 BIN Items or $3500 in Auction Sales

Ebay Anchor Store Now we've hit the big time paying a whopping $299.95 a month! Good news for media sellers you can finally save on listing fees but only if you list 15,000 items monthly. Cost Monthly $299.95 BIN Listing Savings $0.47 For every non-media BIN Listing. $0.02 for Media Listings Auction FVFs Savings At least 1.5% of each auction item. Marketing Tools Customizable Store, Email Marketing, Store Branding. Number BIN Listings/Auction Sales to break even. 639 BIN Items or $20000 in Auction Sales. 15000 BIN Media Items.

How To Save On Fees Tips To Save On Fees Know where auction listing fee cut off points are and list accordingly. Open a store if it will help you save on fees. Use tools to avoid paying for extra features. Use 30 day listing duration. Use the cheapest shipping method possible unless the buyer request another.
