My Life as a reader Learning Log By: Shira F. 3.8.11 8 A English

My life as a young reader…:

My life as a young reader… When I was little I loved books. I loved to read and reread them all the time. Almost every night, my dad would read me a book before I went to sleep. I owned a books about all of the presidents up to Bill Clinton. We would read one president per night. My dad would test me about them sometimes and I knew them in order by heart up to the twentieth president. My two favorite books when I was little were…

1. Zack’s Alligator :

1. Zack’s Alligator This book is about a boy named Zack and when he gets a package in the mail from his uncle in Florida, his life takes a thrill ride. In the package is a keychain of an alligator named Bridget. Zack takes her and washed her off. Suddenly, the alligator grows from a keychain into a real alligator!

2. Andrew’s Loose tooth:

2. Andrew’s Loose tooth This book is about a boy named Andrew, and everyone’s attempts to try to pry out his tooth, so he could eat an apple. Andrew had many unsuccessful attempts to get his tooth out. He had his mom, dad, and even his dentist help him. His tooth wouldn’t come out when the dentist tied his tooth to a car and tried to drive away. In fact, instead of the tooth coming out the car fell apart. In the end, Andrew’s friend tried to sneeze Andrew’s tooth out of him. This was a successful endeavor and Andrew could eat his apple!

As I got Older…:

As I got Older… The “ Junie B. Jones” series and the “Magic School Bus ” series As I got older, I started reading on my own. In Kindergarten, our teacher read to us the “ Junie B. Jones ” series everyday during snack time. I loved that series! I probably read every book in the series and that went up to about 40-50 books. I even had the Junie B. Jones doll. I also loved the “ Magic School Bus Series”.

Continued…:

Continued… “ The Bailey School Kids ” series When I was in third grade I loved the “ TheBailey School Kids ” series. I always thought the situations that the kids got in were hilarious. In the books a group of kids think someone they know is a mythical creature, and they spend the whole book trying to find out.

Today…:

Today… The Twilight Saga, Books by Sarah Dessen, The “ Shiver ” series, and “When It Happens” As of today, I am still an avid reader. I have liked the “ Twilight ” series, books by the author Sarah Dessen, and lots more. I have recently started to challenged myself with reading harder books like the classics “ Romeo and Juliet ” and “ Wuthering Heights ”.

Fun facts about my reading…:

Fun facts about my reading… My favorite place to read is anywhere outside quiet. I prefer owning books so I can look back on them, reread them, or just have them so I know what I have read. I like hardcover books so they don’t break as easily. I have yet to read a book that will have an impact on my life. I read for assigned and for fun.
