I was at a point in my university career where I felt like I was burning out, and doing an internship was the exact change of pace I needed. Also, because it is a 15 credit course, I stayed right on schedule with my degree. After this course, I feel more capable and confident in my abilities as a young person in the workforce than ever before. I had a blast doing my internship, and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything!” Terence Choo : Terence Choo PT Health Austin Ave Physiotherapy Allison Conyers : Allison Conyers Endorphin Junkies Che Costigan : Che Costigan Level 10 Fitness Erin Devlin : Erin Devlin Fit City City of Vancouver Maha Elashi : Maha Elashi iConnect Health Centre Peace Arch Hospital Slide 15: “This experience has meant so much to me. I feel privileged to have been able to spend the semester with my supervisor, an internationally known strength and conditioning coach. I will take what I learned with me into the field of human kinetics and I now have the confidence to apply my knowledge and know that it is ok to make mistakes - that is how we learn. Without this internship I think I would feel lost, in a sea of textbooks and theory.” Holly Enns : Holly Enns UBC Building Operations Department of Health, Safety, and Environment Vanessa Fee : Vanessa Fee David Thompson Community Schools Team Cally Forbes : Cally Forbes 2010 Legacies Now Society Hannah Goossen : Hannah Goossen Fit City City of Vancouver Amanda Goy & Lauren Herndier : Amanda Goy & Lauren Herndier Burnaby Hospital Healthy Heart Program Kyle Guay : Kyle Guay Twist Conditioning Slide 22: “How I see it, Internship is getting to play in the game (whatever sport it may be). You can sit on the bench and watch the game, study the game, go over game plays and theory, but until you step into the game you have no idea what it is like to play; it is only by playing the game that you can build the confidence and skills that are required to succeed.” Ginia Hayward : Ginia Hayward Total Therapy Rehab & Wellness Centre Kelsey Hilliard : Kelsey Hilliard Level 10 Fitness Hayley Huculak : Hayley Huculak VANOC Paralympic Planning Manny Janda : Manny Janda Drive Fitness Andrea Kynoch & Jessica Barudin : Andrea Kynoch & Jessica Barudin Metrotown Orthepedic & Sports Physiotherapy Daniel Lam : Daniel Lam Total Therapy Rehab & Wellness Centre Jill Lewis : Jill Lewis PT Health Highgate Burnaby Riley Mari : Riley Mari Kinsmen Laboratory of Neurological Research Adam Parsons : Adam Parsons Strength & Conditioning Washington State University Chris Romaniw : Chris Romaniw Performance Institute for Sport Peter Skinner : Peter Skinner Citahealth Management Group Vianna Soo : Vianna Soo VGH Centre for Cardiovascular Health Michael Speakman : Michael Speakman UBC Women’s Soccer Slide 36: “The experience that HKIN 455 provided me with has allowed me to develop a number of administrative skills, make connections within the industry, and step outside of my comfort zone to become a more confident group leader and public speaker. This experience has aided me in securing a well rounded undergraduate degree, increasing my interest and knowledge in areas I had not yet explored. HKIN 455 has been invaluable to me in determining my future career path.” Josh Stone : Josh Stone PT Health Health Service Centre Surrey Lauren Sutherland : Lauren Sutherland Innovative Fitness Edmond Tan : Edmond Tan Lifeworks Health Systems Inc. It is an advantage that I am grateful for and will greatly improve my chances of success in switching from academics to a career I can be proud of. I can confidently say, that HKIN 455 is the highlight of my post secondary studies.” Andrew Wilson : Andrew Wilson Total Therapy Rehab & Wellness Centre Mallory White : Mallory White iConnect Health Centre Peace Arch Hospital Ali YakhshiTafti : Ali YakhshiTafti 2010 Legacies Now A Big Thank You toParticipating Agencies and SupervisorsIt has been a pleasure working with you. : A Big Thank You toParticipating Agencies and SupervisorsIt has been a pleasure working with you.
