The 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse And Recycle:

The 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse And Recycle Learn about the 3 R’s of the environment.

Learn About The 3 R’s:

Learn About The 3 R’s Each year, Europeans throw away 50 billion drink and food cans, 30 billion glass jars and bottles, and 70 million plastic and metal can and jar covers. More than 30% of the waste we dump everyday is the packaging materials. Where does it all go? Around 85% of our garbage is sent to the landfill or dump, even though we are quickly running out of space. We all have heard about the 3 R’s of the environment: REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE but do we truly practice what we preach?

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – The Mantra Of 3 R’s:

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – The Mantra Of 3 R’s The 3 R’s have been around for quite a time and people actually understand the basic concept behind them. In a nutshell: Reduce – Buy products that require less packing or limit the waste you are producing. Reuse – Use a reusable water bottle or travel mug and avoid the single-use bags. Recycle – Plastic, paper, magazines, glass, electronics and more can be processed into new products while using less natural resources and less energy.

Reduce:

Reduce “Reduce” means using less resources in the first place. This is one of the most effective R’s of the three and the place to begin. Reduce is a proportional word, it says: cut down from where you are now. When you shop, shop in a different way. Search for things that will last – things that are not only well-made and durable, but useful and creative enough to satisfy you for a long time.

Reuse:

Reuse Before you dispose or recycle anything, consider if it has any life left in it or not. A jam jar can store leftovers. Food scraps can be turned into compost. An old shirt can be used as a pajama top. A used envelope can be turned into a shopping list. A magazine can be shared, DVDs can be traded, dishwasher repaired. A computer or laptop can be upgraded. A car can be resold and a cellphone can be donated. Reusing helps in keeping the new resources safe from being used for a longer time, and prevent old resources from being enter in the waste stream.

Recycle:

Recycle Recycling is so far the best “R”, because there are so many recycling companies that have made recycling easy today. What makes it so easy are the rules. Every municipality has their own and they are not usually as straightforward as they could be.
