Grammar:

Grammar Definite and Indefinite Article Indefinite article (English “ A ” or “ An ”) Hebrew does not have an indefinite article. When translating from English to Hebrew, just leave out the “A” or “An”. When translating from Hebrew to English you MAY need to add the approtriate indefinite article.

Translation is an art. To just substitute words does not result in a satisfactory translation. You must first get a feel for the meaning in the original language, then try to accomplish that feel in the target language.

Grammar:

Grammar Definite and Indefinite Article Definite article (English “ The ” ) In Hebrew the definite article is ALWAYS attached to the word as a prefix. Use the letter Hay with the vowel Patakh . Also add a Dagaysh to the first letter of the word. Rembember there are 5 letters which cannot accept a Dagaysh . So don’t put one in! And there are 6 letters which will already have a Dagaysh as the first letter of the word.

ExerciseSplash Exercises In this presentation, I have supplied some possible answers to the exercises, they are NOT the only possible responses. First give your own response, mentally or better by writing it on paper. Then press the down arrow to see my response. Exercises01 This word isn’t taught until we get to chapter 2. So, although the authors goofed by putting it in the chapter 1 exercises, it does give us a chance to learn one more word. Does anyone already know it? I will give it to you now, please look it up in your dictionary, divide it into syllables, and say it. Would you expect it to be masculine or feminine? Which is it?
