Period 2 Scenario : 

Period 2 Scenario Current Education Quality = Above Average Community Indicators Economy is back on track after real estate crisis Employment is rising making talent harder to procure Federal Reserve reduced interest rates by 0.5% To promote investment & growth Projections include: The gross national product to increase in real terms by 2.4%. Investment to increase in real terms by 2%. The cost of living to rise by 2%. Wages and salaries will grow by 3% Higher ed enrollment to increase by 5% Special Inputs Extremely dry winter has increased the potential for forest fires

Ed Sector Conclusions & Proposals Proposal I – Teacher Hiring Since the Education budget is still in the black after two years, Phase II of the Teacher Hiring Contingency Plan can proceed with adjustments: 4 more elementary school level teachers to maintain 1:17 ratio instead of 8 more elementary teachers as proposed during Period 1 12 more high school level teachers to maintain 1:19 ratio instead of 4 more high school teachers as proposed during Period 1 Increase in high school teacher need compensates for high school population increase from Period 1 to Period 2 Must consider: Average teacher salaries have increased from $48,910 in Period 1 to $49,960 in Period 2 Approximate $800K increase from Period 1 salaries = $26,079,810 to Period 2 proposed salaries = $26,878,480
