Earn better grades Score higher on tests Pass their classes Attend school regularly Have better social skills Show improved behavior Be more positive in their outlook towards school Complete homework assignments Graduate and continue their education Slide 4: 2 HOURS A SEMESTER YOU CAN....... Watch 2 episodes of LOST Do 2 loads of laundry Mow the lawn Clean the garage Help your child's school Slide 5: 2 hours a semester you can find a committee that fits you 2 hours can be split up in 2 – 1 hour increments 4 – 30 minute increments 8 – 15 minute increments Lots of minutes in between Slide 6: Provide welcome back kits to teachers during in-service days prior to school Includes stickers, note pads, paper clips, push pins, chocolate, pens, etc Slide 7: Decide how many times a year to display items from primary school in window Work with teachers to gather items from students Display & remove items in window Slide 8: Collect box tops from students/teachers Provide collection containers to school and/or community Provide communication to parents and teachers Provide status reports to PR officer Coordinate contest in Oct & Feb Cut and sort box tops according to guidelines Slide 9: Collect soup labels from students/teachers Provide collection container to school Cut and sort labels according to guidelines Send in labels to company Coordinate with teachers on use of points Provide communication to parents and teachers Provide status report to PR officer Slide 10: Coordinate with school secretary on which day PTO is to provide meal Coordinate with parents to provide meal If enough $$ is raised you can purchase a meal instead of asking parents Slide 11: Decorate commons at High School for program Schedule Santa and Mrs. Claus Buy candy for Santa to hand out Coordinate with parents to bring cookies Buy punch and napkins Slide 12: Coordinate with PTO officers on day for lunch Work with parents to provide lunch If enough $$ is raised - order, pick up and deliver food to school Take pictures of each class to make a Christmas card for their teacher Buy gift cards for teachers Christmas Lunch for Staff/Faculty Slide 13: Select with officers fundraisers to do for the year Coordinate with fund-raising company Coordinate with primary school to get info to students Collect and distribute product Provide report to treasurer and PR officers Slide 14: First full week of May Select one day to provide lunch for teachers Select gifts for teachers Coordinate special days for teachers Slide 15: Set up table with cookies Provide info for new parents on opportunities to help PTO and what the PTO does Ask for contact info to communicate with them Slide 16: Coordinate with school in selecting a day – usually the last day of school Provide snacks Coordinate games Slide 17: Identify ways to provide community service Coordinate with students/parents/volunteers to carry out service Communicate with students and parents Slide 18: Our next PTO meeting April 13th 6:30pm @ Primary School Come to NOMINATE and/or VOTE!!!
