India is one of the mega biodiversity centers in the world and has two of the world's 18 ‘biodiversity hotspots’ located in the Western Ghats and in the Eastern Himalayas.Impact on future changes in climatic conditions on biodiversity: Impact on future changes in climatic conditions on biodiversity Chain extinctions :- Extinction of species results in a chain of events affecting a number of other species adversely Those forms which are dependent on the extinct species have to die out Animals starve to death following the disappearance of species which constituted their main source of food Species exploitation :- Increases in river and lake water temperatures are expected to have detrimental impacts on species living in it.CONTD….: CONTD…. Environmental contamination :- The contamination of air, water, or soil by substances that are harmful to living organisms. Pollution can occur naturally, for example light from cities and towns at night that interferes with astronomical observations is known as light pollution. Heat from hot water that is discharged from a factory into a river or lake, where it can kill or endanger aquatic life, is known as thermal pollution. Some of the changes we might expect in future:- Further warming of the Arctic and Antarctic, leading to more sea-ice disappearance.CONTD….: CONTD…. Greater warming over lands than over the oceans. Oceans are likely to continue to warm for several centuries due to greenhouse concentrations which have already taken place. melting of sea ice. Droughts and floods in many areas. There is a real fear among some small island inhabitants that their lands may totally disappear under water because of rising sea levels caused by global warming.ANSWER 2: ANSWER 2 Environmental management is the process by which environmental health is regulated. It does not involve managing the environment itself, but it is the process of taking steps and behaviors to have a positive effect on the environment. To reduce the risk of these environmental impacts’ occurrence, we clearly set objectives and targets.CONTD….: CONTD…. The following lists the major objectives and targets established at ISO14001-certified plants: Reduction of wastes and improvement of recycling rate:- We will have a positive effect on the environment with less harmful gases being generated which lead to global warming, and a cleaner and higher quality of life. Promotion of energy and resource conservation:- Reduction of paper usage Reduction of water usage Reduction of power usage Development of energy management systemsCONTD….: CONTD…. Proper control of chemical substances: Development of chemical-substance management systems. Development of environmentally beginning products:- Reduction of products’ energy consumption Identification of products’ recyclable components Establishment of technologies to reduce the amount of gas and water used by products.CONTD….: CONTD…. The strategies being adopted for the protection and management of environment are:- Protection of Land Conservation of Water Protection of Forests Animals in Our Environment Our Climate You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
